[UK only offer] Fabbri diecast on sale at The Works
« on: 21 August 2015, 04:47:50 PM »
I read the info from here. The Works have a big load of russian equipment diecast (WWII to modern) for 2£ a piece.

If anyone in the UK could grab some for me (I need BTR-xx, BMP-x, some GAZ Tiger and some T-xx tanks but would take anything modern), it'll be much appreciated (PM ME).

Saw some IS-2, Matilda, and DUKW locally.

What scale are they?

I had a look in a local shop today and they had a few IS-2, T-34/85s and a single T-80. They also had a couple of early war multi-turret tanks (can't recall the model number off the top of my head).

All were £2 each though they were buried in a "pocket money" toys display and I'd never have found them unless I was actively looking (because of this thread). I suspect it will be pot-luck as to what stock any given store has.

I pretty much agree, I occasionally pop into The Works, they have lots of stuff very reasonably priced and sometimes I find suitable stuff for the hobby, but it's a bit of luck of the draw which store carries what. Last time I was there they had a fairly large selection of 1/43 diecast cars for about £3 a pop, although they were too modern and sporty for my needs so gave them a pass.
The most important thing in the hobby is that you're having FUN! Doesn't matter if you win or lose.

Nobody in the UK want to help a french LAFer to put his hands onto these ?  :'( As I'm interested in the modern items, I should have this posted in the WW2 board  ::)

Don't get me wrong here, but stating that is a bit rude actually, because it does come across like that!!!! I think there are those who can and WILL, but we are also voicing that the stock differs from store to store, so the one in JoeBlogs Town doesn't carry the same as the one in WillyNilly.

You got me wrong Legionnaire (and I want to apologize if I appeared to be rude, "passion won over wisdom"). I meant : If I posted that in WW2 board, there would be no conflict of interest (I mean competition between growing our own leadpile, who has the bigger, men stuff you know...) but that was humorous (I wouldn't have posted that here if I didn't want share the deal). Maybe my english is not subtle enough (but I used a smiley to point out that I was joking). I did understand that stock is not the same in each shop.

Or maybe I was just too tired at that point, and sometimes it's a difference in interpretation because you simply can't see the mimics of the other. I don't see a smiley as initially humorous, if it is crying it's a sad face to me and I would've put a winking one to indicate I am indeed joking, but that's me. No worries at all mate.

I do think, that as hobbyists we are more than willing to 'share the loot' with our fellow man than any other 'faction' (fishermen, archers, knitting circles etc), so the more places your post gets noticed in, the larger the likelihood you get your hands on the much coveted items. Or why not simply post it in the Bazaar?

I'll pop into to the local works on my lunch, later. Which modern types would you be interested in?

I actually made a trip of some little distance to check it out (and please understand that I didn't mind doing so), but, as I pointed out, there was only a single T-80 that fell into your period of interest. To be blunt it didn't seem worth the trouble of posting a single vehicle.

In Aberdeen it's IS2 a go go followed a long way behind by matildas with single t55, btr 70, pt 76 and lee. So matildas and lee for me. And a couple of IS.
