Colonial British

Here are some pictures of my newly raised British unit, still need to finish the bases though.  All figures are Redoubt.  I have figures from their Zulu and Sudan range, the Zulu figures are huge but the Sudan figures would fit in with other ranges being 28mm.  I wanted some British in red so I decided that this unit would be it.  In my fictional Africa setting this unit only recruits men over 6ft tall and always were their red coats, to woos the enemy.  Hope you like them.

@ Svennn the DH Nut: a word of caution, they are bigger than other figures.  I will try and post a picture to compare them.

Looking good Justin. Just goes to show that a decent paint job can salvage a less than great sculpt.
I do have a handful of Redoubt Sudan British in my colonial ranks, and whilst the figures do have quite a lot of character, in terms of anatomy / poses, they are not exactly A grade quality compared with the work of - for instance - the Perrys or Mr Hicks.

But these look really good - so it must be down to your excellent painting!

Very nicely done, a great looking unit.
I have a large redoubt Zulu wars collection that I amassed back in the early 90's when the figurers first appeared. They maybe oversized, chunky and poorly sculpted in some cases but its a comprehensive range and they have a certain charm to them.
If I was to do the period now, probably Empress miniatures would be my first choice.

Yes, you've done a very good job of improving these figures with your painting. They should hire you to paint stuff for their website 

One minor point, though, you haven't done the regimental facings on the collar tabs and the cuffs.......




Sorry, don't mean to be critical, but it would be a shame to spoil your otherwise excellent figures.

edit: Of course, being a fictional setting, you can do them how you want, of course!
