Plastic mesh panels
« on: September 10, 2015, 09:18:51 PM »
Battefront just released these:

They are supposed to be 15mm "bedspring" additional armour for Soviet tanks in Flames of War, but would serve lots of other uses: leaded windows spring to mind.  US$13 for three of each sprue, though, so not cheap.

Also nice for making radio towers with, and tracking radars, and sensors, and.... well, they are useful for many other scales too :)

I used to cut up plastic tea strainers for window mesh on my Dark Future cars back in the '80's.
Dunno if you can even buy plastic strainers nowadays....

I think these are useful where you need something small and unsupported - as Gunbird suggested, for 6mm scale radar towers and such. Being hard styrene plastic, they are easier to glue as well.

For other modelling though, I probably would stick with aluminium car body mesh or plastic stitching mesh because it's cheaper and can be cut to more sizes.

Still a good find though - thanks for posting! :)

@ Mason:

You can still get plastic tea strainers. ;)
