Otherworld RuneQuest - Lunars
« on: 15 September 2015, 05:26:41 PM »
I've just finished my first two models for my Otherworld in Big Rubble project - a Yelmalio Cultist and Initiate of Daka Fal. I was a little concerned how would the D&D inspired Otherworld cope with RuneQuest characters but surprisingly well it seems.
These are old Citadel RuneQuest figures from the Adventurers box, follow links below for more pics and stat blocks for my heroes.

Those are very cool! Are they modified legends/companions or did you create them from scratch?

Hi Sgt

These are from the book for the most part. Yelmalio is a Blessed Crusader as written and Daka Fal the Aspiring Acolyte but I swapped out Practice Makes Perfect for my own Sympathy for the Dead special ability and I limited his Summon spall to just Shadows (this fits better with the character type)

Neat!

I'm not hugely familiar with Runequest but there's an online comic that I've started reading that takes place in the setting.

Runequest is a great setting! And to think, it all started with the "White Bear, Red Moon" and "Plains of Prax" boardgame. I was so disappointed at the time that they never released the third opus in the series, but we cobbled together a way to play both games together - the maps do have an overlapping corner.

I loved Runequest with all the different cults and how they interacted.
'Sir John ejaculated explosively, sitting up in his chair.' ... 'The Black Gang'.

It's awesome that even your minions have names and motivations. The figs look great, too.

Very nice - as mentioned it is good to see characters with real motivations. I think the black background provides a good contrast to your very bold painting style.

Otherworld Skirmish seems to offer quite a nice bridge between the really detailed RPG approach, and the abstracted wargame approach which gives it an interesting niche.

I agree, the figures look spot on. Frankly, I'm tempted by the Otherworld skirmish set, but I'm just learning--and really enjoying--7th Voyage, which is a similar system, and I don't need any more distractions! Thank you for sharing the figures!
