Paul Muller ghouls galore
« on: September 26, 2015, 03:32:56 PM »
I’ve been spending some time lately in the company of Paul Mullers diverse ghouls. And what a great time this has been. What you see here is the result. Such great miniatures. Technically three ghasts have crept into the company, but who cares.

I hope you like them.

First we have the ghouls from Heresy:

Then we have GW ghouls:

And finally the best lot:

Cheers
Martin

Great collection from the Master ghoul sculptor! What are the clothed figures (ghasts?) - I don't recognise them.

Yep, they are ghasts. The monk is a particular favorite of mine.

Very nice. I especially like the use of sprues as chaotic iron railings.

You've done an excellent job on them. Not sure I like the one with the baby (which crosses a "line" with me), but the rest, and particularly the monk figure, are all suitably ghoulish in a good way. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks to you all for the nice comments!

Well, never throw anything away. At least not before it starts to stink..

.

The ghoul with the baby is pretty crass but as an old horror buff such things have a certain unwholesome appeal to me. But that's just my sleazy mind.

Lovely stuff - particularly like the banner (though I see no reason a unit of ghouls would carry one, wargames be damned).  But the art on the banner is frightening.  Love it!

I always fancied a unit of female un-dead, with the banner proclaiming, 'Hell's Belles' , but couldn't find enough different figures (I might try again it has been years since I last looked)

Thanks Elbows. You're right. Banners are sometimes a bit silly but it's such fun to come up with motifs.

Really good stuff here, thanks for sharing! I think particular mention has to be made of the dark eye sockets, the great terrain, and the thematic basing. :)

I've always been a fan of Paul Muller's undead in general, and have managed over time to scrape together two small units (15 each) of his Ghouls for my Vampire Counts forces! I like that  even though they are all slightly different (reflecting his skill over time, and his clients' different requirements) that they still all fit together visually.

...Did you spot the Ghoul child at the back of the group shot picking the eyeballs out of a severed head? ;)

Thanks for the suppportive comments Giulbear. It is rather fun to see how the different companies influenced Muller's style. He probably also got better but the nudity of the Otherworld minis and the full-on gore 'n horror of the Heresy models was clearly not topics for GW.
