Does it please that I covet your work?

Yes, very much.  Feedback is really what keeps the work rolling.  Sooo many ideas in my head for stuff, so feedback helps me focus on this project for a while.  :)

No problem there; this is really quite exciting!

However, be careful for what you wish: I'm liable to muddy the waters with awkward suggestions.  lol

Here we are, finished the keel and glued these pieces together to see what it would look like.  The back deck still needs railings and the propeller parts added to the side of the back deck.

But I really like the profile and don't think I need to keep changing anything here.

That ship looks awesome. Excellent laser cutting skills.

Thanks cuchulain23 :)

First things first.  I'm going like a house on fire now!  Adding the railings now and it affects all three modules so I'm having to think through lots of issues at once.  So as not to cause to many redisigns, I'm also having to think through the crow's nest at the same time. So it should be a pretty radical difference next time it's seen :)

Coming along  :)

Are you going to bulk out the rams?

cheers

The Rams are two sheets thick at the moment and won't get any thicker, but I intend to add more design elements to them. One of the ideas I'm kicking around is a steel looking reinforced edging.  Is that what you are asking?

Until I know that everything fits together, I'm spending very little time on style and details.

Personally, I assumed he'd get by with the lased surface designs giving it more dimensionality.  :D

However, if he simply MUST greeble...   ;)

"First things first." Oh, come on, you know I was teasing. Guns are definitely near the end, but I get the feeling you wouldn't mind seeing the Martian 'loaded for b'ar!'

You mentioned props earlier. Do you have a sense of blades or clear, plastic disks?

Sorry, it's a language thing  :)

By bulk out I meant thicker, more layers etc.

cheers

Beast - i'd prefer actual propellers but unless I can source them easily, I'll go with clear disks.  Either way is a win I think.

Jimbibbly - No worries.  Each ram is two layers and I will add another layer on the edges for depth, but that will be it.  Each is a huge use of material and that's what really stops me from increasing the number of layers too much further.

Lego actually do propellers... I'm working on a design to mass produce (well make 5 at least!) ornithopters and they come in at about the right size and without the raised recesses.

Fantastic work!  ;)

Thanks David!  I recently bought your rules and think they would go great with this ship!  I can't wait for my daughters to get a little bit older so I can a little Pulp Alley with them.

Finished adding rails to each section, but have only had time to print the fore deck and walkway.  Put the fore deck together and a crows nest that I built today to.  I like it but it may interfere with another idea I had, we'll see.  I wanted to run ropes to the top of the 'masts' from the front of the ship and the back, I'll wait and get the whole thing together before I make any changes.

I had to redesign the railing posts to make way for the overlap of the armor plates, just another learning opportunity.
