Whippet, Whippet Good
« on: October 04, 2015, 09:47:43 PM »
Back to 15mm / 1:100 scale for these guys. It's Battlefront's Medium Mark A "Whippet"

I've painted them in Khaki Green No. 3 — I'm not 100% sure that it's entirely appropriate for WW1 tanks, but colour information for the period is vague at best, and it looks OK to my eye. I've been pretty restrained with the weathering; I'm kind of tired of models of WW1 tanks that look like clods of mud with tracks.

I'd have liked to have done them in one of the multi-colour schemes from earlier in the war, but when I had the temerity to do that with a Mark IV I was mocked mercilessly and my spirit crushed beneath the iron hobnails of jackbooted pedantry. So, it's just the single-colour scheme this time.

Nice work.

I know what you mean about the vagueness around paint schemes. I went with mud brown for mine, but would have quite liked to go with a nice dark green, especially seeing how these turned out.

I did mine brown as well as per the Osprey but there are argument for green so good on you as they look great.

It is a shame the British didn't adopt more interesting colour schemes. The Mark IVs captured by the Germans have some really cool patterns.
