Orctober 10mm LotR Warmaster Project - Updated 27th Oct
« on: October 12, 2015, 02:44:21 PM »

The world is changing. Who now has the strength to stand against the armies of Isengard and Mordor?

To stand against the might of Sauron and Saruman and the union of the two towers?
Together, Lord Sauron, we shall rule this Middle-Earth. The old world will burn in the fires of industry.

The forests will fall. A new order will rise. We will drive the machinery of war with the sword and the spear and the iron fist of the Orc.

We have only to remove those who oppose us.

So as it's Orctober I set myself the challenge of building and painting a 10mm loosely LotR themed Warmaster 1000pts army, that's 31 days to order, build & paint.

So I started with a small order from Copplestone Castings and within 24 hours they were on my doorstep, wonderful service as always :)

12 days in this is where I am with the painting:

I think I may need to speed up abit, up next more Warg Riders, Orcs and Uruk's.

Thanks for looking.

I have the Kallistra evil Giants to add but I'm not a fan of their Greenskins (And Pendrakens identical range just labled Goblins).

Cheers

I'm not familiar with this range and I don't do 10mm, but these are very fetching indeed.  They have a simple, pleasantly old-fashioned look.  And I love the red fellbeast  :)  Very striking visually, and different from what one usually sees.

Looking forward to more.
Now what is this whole life of mortals but a sort of comedy, in which the various actors, disguised by various costumes and masks, walk on and play each one his part, until the manager waves them off the stage?

Thanks, I went red with the Fellbeast as I needed him to stand out when being gamed with, also the reason for the Orc on white Warg :)

Hot Damn, that's some quick painting sir! And the results are stunning.
Always fancied doing some lotr stuff in the smaller scales as I think it would better catch the scope of Tolkiens world. Will you be obtaining/creating a 10mm scale hornburg?  :D

It's quite funny you should mention the epic scope as while thinking about gaming in 10mm my brain thought ''Ohhh I can do massive battles'' then I noticed/found out gaming in 10mm is quite expansive with each strip of 3-6 figures working out around a £1.

What I have painted about works out at around £15, while not silly prices it's going to work out more expensive then most of my 15mm and some 20mm & 28mm projects of mine. Heh still working out cheaper then 6mm though ;)

Nice work, always good to see the 10mm Copplestone figures painted up. I think Copplestone are probably the nicest 10mm figures, its just a shame the ranges are so small. The warg riders are particularly dynamic.

1000 pts of Orcs is a fair few units, you'll need to get a move on for the end of the month! I find I can only do about one 10mm unit a week - and that's only when I pull my finger out.

Good stuff. Lots more wolves, always good to see.

Is that one of the Kallistra giants at the back? He has come out very well - I never really got on with that pack, but seeing how this one has come out, I might revisit them.

What do you think of the nazgul on the red flyer sculpt?

I know the question's not directed at me, but personally, I want to cry every time I see it. ;D But seeing this whole army and how it's painted is great. :)

Yeah I do have a pack of the Kallistra Evil Giants that were donated to me, 2 will be Frost Giants and 6 will be used 2 a base for Ogres/Large Hillmen.

I also quite like the Nazgul on Fellbeast sculpt, it's simple but noticable enough in game :)

I think you should protest the sculpt by buying everything else in the range bar the Nazgul then.. um giving them to me? Yeah that's works hehe ;)

Whelp, Orctober is coming to the end and I've completed my goal of having 1k Warmaster Orcs painted (Not a legal list but as this is part of a greater whole it matters little).

So whats to be added to make it a playable force? Well more Orcs/Uruks/Warg Riders to add to the numbers, plus I want some Stone Throwers and another giant (Halfway painted atm).

Thanks for looking
