Very un-inspired. Nicely sculpted but I question the legality of such a venture...

Ok those are awesome. If I knew anyone at all that would do BSG with me on the tabletop I'd be on those like a fat kid on a box of donuts.

There is a lot of "inspired by" minis... They are proxies of our favourite universes ;)

I second the un-inspired idea. Only one figure in one pose as crowdfunding??? Compared to gates of antares, which was canceled, it is uninspired. Maybe you started a little bit to early???

There is a lot of "inspired by" minis... They are proxies of our favourite universes ;)

So we have:

1. New Cylons from the new Battle Star Galactica
2. Arnold Scwarzenegger from Terminator
3. Kurt Russel as 'Cobra' from Escape from New York
4. Old Cylons from the original Battle Star Galactica
5. The alien in envirnmental suit from Independence Day

I wonder what is next? Maybe a DALEK? How about Chappie? Or Iron Man?

Inspired is one thing, blatant copying is uninspired and in a lot of countries, is illegal.

Nice sculpting but it's a big no from me.

"Call me Snake."  ;)

I don't normally mind the "not" miniatures but the overt "inspired by SF movies" bit is sailing a bit close to the wind and it's a little naughty doing the Terminator when another company have actually paid for the official minis license.

SNAKE! :D

The only reason I got the name wrong is because Hasslefree do a rip off called 'Cobra':

... and yes... I think it is a rip off too.

I actually *like* having various "not" minis.

Yes, they're not very inspired, but sometimes you want to create a game around a scene in a film, or to play some games set in the universe of a TV series.

Frankly, many of them are better than the "official" minis, and I see no actual difference between "not" and "official" minis.

What I do find... bland, is a whole KS based around a very limited and unconnected series of "not" minis, which are so-so sculpts (sorry, but I don't think they're great despite the amazing paintjobs).

Likewise, I don't think very highly of a complete "not" series of miniatures which exists despite there being an actual licence for them (that is often owned and paid for by somebody else). <shrug>

So I'll just leave this quote from the project creator.

Blatant rip-offs from someone else's IP and despite that crazily expensive. Beyond me.  :?

I wouldn't be surprised to see a wide-front C&D backlash against the lately increasing temerity of manufacturers making "not" figures. It's like a Jenga tower. Someone will be too bold and the backlash will hit all of them.

I also like "not" figures, not least because many of the cool new ideas in sci-fi come from films, TV shows and comics / graphic novels, so the sci-fi miniature gaming hobby would be very impoverished without them. But I usually don't mind them being visually different enough from the source material to not be at risk of C&D. In fact I usually prefer them that way. For instance, if I wanted "not Cylons" I'd probably use the Talos figures from Scotia Grendel's Kryomek range.

Fun random fact: The alternate german title of Escape from New York is "Die Klapperschlange" (The Rattlesnake), even though Snake has a Cobra, not a Rattlesnake, tatooed on his abdomen.

You may continue with your senseless discussions about miniatures now.

;)
