Thanks Giles - I'll be cracking on with groundwork as the next phase so it shouldn't be too long before I get to the waterfall (maybe even next weekend). I'll be using streaks of silicone sealant for the falling water though the main river will be brown (peaty) thus the absence of depth on the tiles.   :)

Had a free Monday so had a hobby day and managed to finish the bulk of the structural build for the inn. The next step will be to harden the plaster with superglue, which I have tried on the bridge and it works. After that I'll lay the wooden floor and then start putting the sand texture on to the tiles. And then after that it will be time to gap fill etc with milliput and greenstuff plus added stones etc (oh, and make the roof, which will be hipped and thatched).

So, the inn:

With booths added to show how the interior layout will work

The entrance with yard and stable to right:

In situ on the board with castle to middle and cliffs/bluff in distance:

I guess with the Inn likely to feature in the next game, I will need to move the staff (including its resident strumpets) up the painting order :)

Edit: and yes, I do plan to drill out the chimney top!

Thanks Colin. They're quite fantasy and so, as mentioned before, I ground off the skulls (still got to repair the damage). I don't think they really true-Medieval but the inn in GoT has booths and these were an easy solution (though I do think that the layout is starting to look a bit 'lap-dancing' club). Lol

Tsch! Tomorrow I shall be cutting and fitting granite with a bad elbow, so today I had a rest!!

Quite a stunner that inn already!  :-*

Besides the wooden floor what else is still in the works for the inside parts?

Thanks folks - much appreciated  :D

Besides the wooden floor what else is still in the works for the inside parts?

In addition to the booths (which already have a lot of detail) and the wooden floor, I'm thinking an opening front door, though I shan't bother to fit glass or shutters, maybe a bench and some barrels outside, perhaps a few chickens in the yard plus straw and a water butt for any horses, inside more barrels plus a fire with a pot over, maybe some fowl strung up in the inglenook, a kettle on the hearth ..... Any other suggestions always appreciated ;)

EDIT: Having just had another look at the interior of the inn in S5/2, I am inclined to cut away the curtains at the top of the booth walls

WOW!  That looks great!  I might have to try your way on a small house or a bridge to see if finish one before starting a project like yours.  An alternative to coating the plaster in superglue, have you thought about MOD PODGE or white glue?  I'm using plaster to cast up a dungeon and I read somewhere that people use MOD PODGE, and swear by it.  I bought a small bottle of it to give it a go and found out that it is just water downed white glue  :?  However, it did put a nice hard shell over my plaster and it takes paint well too.  I don't know where you get your superglue but I'm almost positive that this might be a cheaper and healthier alternative.  Just an idea  :)

Thanks for your comments and suggestion Justin   :D

The superglue I use isn't particularly expensive, at £1 for 20g. I guess maybe 3 bottles to seal the inn. Unfortunately, I need to do some GS detailing to the stonework (gap filling etc) and it doesn't stick so well to the wood glue I use. If it wasn't for the GS work, I'd probably just use the wood glue.  :) TBH I'm not familiar with mod podge, though it sounds like a wood glue such as Evostik Exterior, which also dries to a hard (though rubbery flexible) shell.

Go to poundland, 5 bottles for, well, you know. I'm sure it's been said before but don't go near it after you apply!

3 bottles of superglue to seal the inn and make Tuesday disappear in a haze of cyanoacrylate fumes!

It's worth the effort though, it's looking brilliant.  The inn is incredibly effective.  What's your plans for the thatch, teddy bear fur, brush head fibres, towelling?

Thanks kindly folks  :D

Cheers for the Poundland tip Zaheer. I'll have a look next time I'm in town though I probably have about 30 bottles to hand at the mo so I'm not about to run out this week  ;) :D

Do you remember my medieval village Steve? That used towelling and so I plan to use the same (yes, the same somewhat holed towel) for the inn.

The idea is that eventually I will rebase the village onto 30cm tiles to work with this board, with the view to eventually extending to recreate something akin to the back of beyond small harbour (I don't know it's name) from which Arya sails to Braavos. I have a Revell Hansa Kog that will convert nicely and am somewhat envious of the WotR harbour game that the Perrys' put on a few years ago.

I remember the village, yes. That was a good look for the thatch as it didn't visually dominate the building like some model thatch can.

Cheers Steve ..... I do like to avoid the look of a hair-piece  :o :D

Regarding superglue, and without denigrating all of the health warnings above (and for those that worry about me: thanks folks but as I already have a lung disease I generally take care not to aggravate it  ;)), when applying it as a sealant I use a thin glue that is wiped with kitchen towel to prevent pooling and generally improve distribution. Much like a soft wood, the plaster soaks up the CA glue, for a hardened crust.

I started doing it this way a long time ago, having previously used CA to seal wood carvings. Many wood turners use CA to seal and even to finish their craftwork, which is where I learned about it. Here's a couple of links that might be of interest:

https://www.canadianwoodworking.com/tipstechniques/finishing-ca-glue

http://www.woodcentral.com/russ/russ6.shtml

Nevertheless, there are undoubtedly Health and Safety issues that people need to satisfy themselves on.
