Thanks chaps  :D

Nick/James - I get very excited at the prospect of playing with my toys!  ;) Coincidentally, I was jotting down some rules last night with a view to reflecting the characteristics of the factions. Differentiating the factions is a bit of a challenge.  Assuming that the Starks have the rules as written, then the Wildlings have movement variables (no positive modifiers for moving in column or on road but no negatives for woodland and rough ground). I see The Watch as being less likely to follow orders (so more sticky) but more likely to run after taking casualties, so a couple of negative modifiers but no postitives I can think of to balance (maybe no off-road movement penalties as they are used to rough ground?).  For the Boltons, as an organised force they also get to move in columns and ....... Nope, brain fade = more thought required!

Matt - I'll know about the plaster tomorrow and yes, a coating of glue is the route I intend to follow. As for the Boer War board ..... If I don't  finish it, it's probably worth more to me as parts for recycling (the Old West is calling) versus being sold as is. :)
My LAF Gallery is HERE
Minis (foot & mounted) finished in 2025 = 74
(2024 = 38; 2023 = 151; 2022 = 204; 2021 = 123; 2020 = ???)

You two are so funny!  lol

Rather than fill small gaps in the rocks with GS, I brushed the whole thing with white wood glue (taking care to ensure it didn't pool) and then sprinkled sand onto the areas that will be earth.

Assuming it works as intended, a much smaller amount of GS work will follow.

Those have to be the silliest pseudo-medieval helmets I've ever seen in any TV series anywhere ever. Please don't do those Steve.

That helmet is Spanish, cabacete morion, late 15th century or so.

The Bolton fort looks great already, keen to see how the minis will look after GS work.

A bit belated but thanks  :D. Also helpful to know that it's a 'real' helmet, though I don't see the Boltons as being Spanish-influenced (a certain Monty Python sketch is now in my head!).

As I sketched out the rules, I thought I ought have enough terrain to test them (yes I know, I don't 'need' the terain or the minis to do that......). Three more tiles to make a 2x2.  I have another 8 tiles sketched out (3 more road, a stone bridge, and 4 river) but I'll do them after the minis.

I'm thinking of using Gamers Grass for the tufts.

Actually the jugernaut has been a little waylaid this week..... HDD crash cost me many of my files.  Aaaaargh!    :o   Dont mention backups .... Ive already had the condescending remarks from my kids.

Gamers Grass is relatively new but looks good

http://www.gamersgrass.com/13-grass-tufts-other-sizes

Is carried by quite a few UK sellers (Annie the Dice Bag Lady, Great Escape Games, etc).  A review on Frothers:

http://frothersunite.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=50659&hilit=annie

I think I'll be trying the 'mixed green' tufts plus some of the shorter 'moss', which I hope will go well with the autumnal static grass mix that I use (which will be applied with electric zapper for optimum fuzziness!).  The rocks will all be painted grey.

Or just dont bother.
I keep everything that I need in my head.
Which does explain the rather haphazard way that I do things..... ::)

My head is too filled with other stuff  ;)  :D

Anyways, some minor-looking (but actually critical as it provides the 'foundation' garment) progress with 'dressing' the Boltons. They now have the very basics of the padded 'armour' that is worn beneath the leather jackets. A couple have also started to get their jackets and the Force Commander and Unit Leaders each now have their personal rocks that they will carry around to indicate their status.

As well as the jackets, a fair few will also need boots.
