Is that torturer based on anyone we know, someone very close to home? ;)

You are so *bad*.

Thanks Charlie. One of the casualties is from the Agincourt infantry pack, and the other two are from the WotR two-wheeled cart with casualties (the actual cart will be used when I get round to more of the little village).  Good idea about torture leading to anger - l'll factor that in as a variable. Cheers.

He did start off with a covered face, much like a balaclava......   :o

Roughed out some more of the Starks yesterday... Here they are pre GS.

Just 5 more (plus foot alternates) to do and then I can crack on with the Lanisters.

I suppose that at some point I should make some Baratheons  but I find them difficult to get excited about.  Seems to me that in GOT you can be

A winner or a loser
Honourable or dishonourable

I see the Starks as honourable losers = interesting
The Lanisters as dishonourable winners = interesting
The Baratheons as dishonourable losers = miserably boring

Yeah I now, it's a narrow view.  :D

Edit: I should add that this is a view arrived at from watching the TV series (so far) as a fantasy medieval funfest rather than being derived from any in depth analysis of the books  ;)

Great additions, sir.
I like the foot and mounted alternates, great idea, especially for when Bibbles plays as he does like to fall off of a horse....or so I have heard.
 ;D

You're starting to amass a good collection there Steve, will you be painting them all at once like the WW1 figures, or are you planning to do them in batches?
Photos of my recent efforts are at www.littleleadmen.com and https://beaverlickfalls.blogspot.com

Thanks chaps. They'll make more sense when the GS is on them.  ;) (and the photography is better).

I don't know what the 'falling of a horse is about' but I do now have an interesting image in my head of a rather disgruntled horse with James in the saddle but his feet still firmly planted to the ground on either side ....... :D

Thanks Mark. When all the rough assembly is done (completed the Starks last night and started the first Lanister) I'll do the GS work on the lot in one big splurge. Then I plan to break it up for the painting and will probably do a faction as a batch. That way I'll be able to get some into a game sooner rather than later.

Not sure how well this will work on a proper monitor but here's a screen grab from my rules of the factions I'll have (plus civilians) when this current round of building is complete:

Obviously their inclusion in a game will be scenario dependent, not one big free-for-all!!

At some later stage I'll be adding the hamlet and the bay with a small ship (so the terrain's road will go from the mountains to the sea) which will mean more civilians, sailors and perhaps another two factions, possibly one mounted and the other rich in long bows (perhaps some Karstarks on horses and some Frey's as mostly archers? Suggestions always welcome. :) ).

 lol lol

When Bibbles visited Upsheet Creek, the first thing he tried to do with one of his characters was mount one of the hobbled horses.
The character failed spectacularly and ended up on the floor, where he was promptly shot by one of Dr De'Ath's chaps.
It all went downhill from there.
In fairness, he probably does not remember, though, as it was a while ago and his participation did not last too long.....

I've roughed-out the first Lanister in mounted and foot variants:

Obviously it needs tidying and GS (eg to skim the cloak).

As with the others I'm aiming for something close to the TV look. If it weren't that I want mounted variants, I might well have used Perry ECW pikemen in breast plate and tassets for the base figure. Instead, I'm using WotR legs in leggings (with GS they'll become breeches and boots) with knightly tassets, breastplate, pauldrons and arm armour. Matching up the pauldrons isn't too much of an issue as I can cover any dicrepancies with the cloak.

I don't like the TV helm so have gone for a barbute.

The drawn swords and heater shields (cut back kites) are from the Conquest Norman weapon sprue.

Thoughts always appreciated.

The Lanisters are all now assembled and ready for GSing.

Eleven mounted:

Each with a foot alternate, if desired or alternatively just as extra troops:

With regard to the GS, I need to tidy then skim the cloaks. The other major element will be adding out the 'skirt' that hangs beneath the tassets, and padding out the britches and boots.

With regard to the foot, the advantage of using knight torsos and unarmoured legs is that with the swaps I have a greater variety of poses.

I've a fair few minis to finish and paint for GOT, so much so that there won't be enough room in my cabinet. I might have reached the point of abandoning other projects to favour this one, so much so that I'm contemplating selling my Wars of the Roses and Winter Wreaks Wild collections.

They look good steve, quite natural.

Wow! That many..  o_o

As long as you have a few interchangeable armies steve, thats what matters. One to two forces to play historical saga or fantasy is all you need. Choose the best and drop the rest. I'd go a ruffian force and a more noble shiny force. You have lots to choose from that for sure, and your newer figures are more interesting and better than your earlier attempts. Go for it.

Cheers
Matt
