1746 plus a wee bit (battle report added, P.24)
« on: 31 October 2015, 06:44:39 PM »
This is a project I have fancied doing for a long time but I have decided to get on with it. But don't expect quick updates it will be a slow burning project.
Anyway on to the idea
The Clan Maclachlan jointed the Jacobite Rebellion just before they took Edinburgh. Depending on your source they numbered somewhere in the region of between 150 and several hundred clansmen. Maclachlan's were to take some of the senior positions in the princes army including the army commissariat and one of his aide de camps who died on Culloden moor trying to deliver the order to advance. The chief of the Maclachlans' was also amongst the casualties of the battle. After the battle the government forces carried out the"highland pacification" basically just killed everything that moved, burned all the houses and stole all the livestock. It was sometime during the pacification that a British navy ship sailed up Loch Fyne and helped the Campbell Militia to destroy old castle Lachlan the clan seat of the Maclachlans.
The idea for the game is to build the castle and the village around it we have some suitable terrain boards but will need to add a couple more to make up the bay at the end of Strathlachlan. All the buildings will be scratch built. Have got some suitable clansmen from Front Rank that can also be used for the Campbell militia. Will get some Redcoats from Front Rank as well.

Brilliant idea, mate.
Very apt, you must have so many ideas of things to recreate from that period.
This could take forever to accomplish to your satisfaction.

You should take this to either (or both) Carronade / Claymore as I am sure it will be a visual treat

Actually Colin (or Colon if you prefer) is Maclachlan just a namesake or is there some connection there?

cheers

James
