To quote A.P... "I love this bloody house!". I'm sure it could get plenty of use elsewhere too.

Yes, I concur with you that glass windows must have been a rare luxury item back then. Same thing over here in Finland, heck, some of the castles got their own glass masters in 16th century, must have taken couple of hundred years more that an average person got glass windows for his hovel :)

What form would the windows have taken if not glazed, or would there even have been windows? I'd love to find a good source on the history/archaeology of these structures, but don't want to hijack the thread. If anyone has some please PM!

Zaheer search for details on the black houses on Lewis. They have some quite in depth descriptions as well as pictures of the ones they have there. They don't have windows to keep the heat in.

One of the book I read about this period had a description by an English traveller of the type of houses, amd from his description I don't think they had windows but  I like the extra detail it adds to the build so mine have glass. Surely people that can male steel weapons can work out how to make bottle bottom glass pains

Agreed mate. It makes them look better for gaming imo and it means you can also shoot out of them or throw burning torches into them.

Colin,
your brother and you are very brilliant builders! I love the houses, hope to see them in real. Or did your dog made them??? ;) lol

I wonder how you made this small stones for the walls. Cut at the evening watching movies? Or do you have a slave for it???
