Susan Travers
« on: 21 November 2015, 09:17:44 AM »
Hi!

This week's Wargaming Warrior Women article features Susan Travers, the only woman to ever serve officially in the French Foreign Legion.

Visit https://wargamingraft.wordpress.com/2015/11/20/susan-travers-of-the-french-foreign-legion/ for her story.

As I'm preparing a FFL force in 15mm, I'd really to make a vignette with her standing before General Koenig's Ford Utility. Now the vehicle was easy to find (Battlefront), but does anybody have an idea which figure I might use for Travers? I was thinking about doing a conversion, but if anyone has a simpler recommendation, I'd be grateful.

Cheers
Shandy

The Battlefront 8th Army Artillery HQ or the Arty Staff team have several figures that might suit. Basically an officer in shorts, fit him with a Beret head which in 15mm will look close enough and he becomes a she. Perhaps some GS to provide an indication of long hair will take away from the short hair of the original figure?

Read your blog this morning, great article.

I have her biography on my pile of books to read should be very interesting.

Wish some one would do her in 28mm, would be a great character figure for a varity of games.

Also make sure you green stuff the shirt half-unbuttoned, with a gigantic set of knockers, for that true wargaming appearance. ;)
