Talavera Dawn Attack Scenario - Game Three
« on: 23 November 2015, 01:31:57 PM »
Hi all,
This weekend we completed the third and final play-test of this scenario that looked at the battle it is thought Marshal Victor had intended had his orders been carried through.

The game saw twenty one battalions of French infantry committed to the assault plus three brigades of light cavalry and the combined artillery of the French army. A truly major clash eclipsed only by the full afternoon assault yet to be played.

Great read and amazing to see this project come together.

It certainly seems that C&G can put together a realistic mega level game.  eg weather affecting result.

Hi gustav,
I've played a lot of wargames rules over the years, and quite a few Napoeonic ones and C&G is right up there with the best of them.

I wargame Napoleonics in 18mm specifically to a allow the big game to be played, which I think is what the period is all about. This game was as much a test about the ability of the rules to manage that as it was about developing the scenario, and the beauty of the system is that you get all the detail around weather and fatigue without having to think about it. The players just concentrate on commanding and moving their troops.

As you might guess, I like them.
JJ
