Pulp Alley 3d Print -- WIP
« on: 25 November 2015, 06:38:15 PM »
Unfortunately, this model was printing when we had a 4.7 earthquake a few days ago and suffered some significant mid-print shifting. Luckily, I was able to repair most of the damage, but will still need to reprint 1 or 2 pieces.

I designed the model in Solid Works, roughly based on drawings of an 1872 steamboat ---

Printed on a Stratasys Dimension
Number of pieces = 5
Print time = 18 hours

I like your boat a lot.
Perfect for pulp.
Can't wait to see it painted up.

Maybe you can use it as a wreck for a lost-setting? Please tell me what 3D-Printer do you use and whoch software.

Printer = Stratasys Dimension (I don't remember exactly which model, but it is an older one)

Software = Solidworks

are you going to make your file available?

I had not really thought about it, I'll look into it when I get a chance.

Here it is with the missing pieces reprinted and a bit of paint ---

The blue version in the background was the first print of this model. I made a few adjustments on the second one, but I might as well still use both!!  :D

More to come....

that's FANTASTIC!  if the cabin and engine are not attached - i'd reverse them and put them more forward but that's just me.  any thoughts on production for sale?  i think there's several companies that can mass produce 3d prints cheaply.  you could definately give the 'big boys' a run for their money (literally).
