Empress DEVGRU Team - Slightly converted - Update 181505ZDEC15
« on: December 02, 2015, 10:18:48 AM »
Hey everyone Ivan aka Treadheadz here.

First topic on this forum - be gentle ;)

So last nights hobby session turned into a hack'n slash thriller - I've had two sets of Empress' DEVGRU teams in my bit box for some time, now and I finally got around to convert them a little.
The main thing done, was to cut the heads off, Dremel the neck/torso a bit and re-attach the heads - IMHO they needed to loose a milimeter or so on the goosenecks.
Also did a few head swaps and added one from the Wargames Factory Male Apocalypse Survivors and one from Puppetswar.eu - They are actually a pretty nice fit, so I've ordered some of their boonie head styles to.
And lastly I've added some pouches and a few smokes from the bit box - Also mounted suppressors on all of the Hk416' using a bit of plastic rod - allthough they seem a bit large on the photos, they look better IRL.

And now...pictures:

Next up is some paint and other finishing touches

Enjoy!

Not bad at all, and welcome to the forum. Looking forward to seeing them painted up.

Welcome to the forum.  I think the suppressors look fine.  After all, wargaming often needs to be looked at with "stage appearance".  So if the tubes are a bit bigger, who cares, they're easily identifiable as being suppressed.

While standing above the table, it'd be much easier to look and say "that guy's suppressed".  Well done.  I still chuckle at the girl with the silly neck...needs to be trimmed down by half!  Looking forward to seeing these painted.

Thank you very much.

Yes, the Chick needs some mod, but its a limited model, and I'm afraid a shorter neck won't work with those loooong legs.

I've never really noticed the long neck and legs on the figure. My wife is 6.1' however so I may not notice!
We try to get some variety in our figures body shapes and sizes go reflect reality and keep the scale consistent with the guns and other items that don't vary in size.
Welcome to the forum and look forward to seeing the finished results!
Any ideas on colours yet?

I think I'll just add a small scarf - I actually like the fact that she's a bit tall.
For colours on the Task Force - I'm going for a look in the lines of the Cold Harbor strike team in the Black Powder Red Earth comic.
The female agent is yet to be decided, but I'm fixed on her being of darker skin.

Well dang it - still no paint!

But...

I did have a small surprise in the mail - 4x Empress USMC with M32 Milkor MGL's - Talk about serious firepower!

I couldn't resist converting them - as they needed to fit with my Direct Action Element.

I'm a big fan of the "Black Powder, Red Earth" graphic novel and my force is based on the Cold Harbor PMC - Special Projects Division.

And now, pictures - sorry for the crappy phonecamera and black undercoat.

Most of the team also got a little extra greens - mainly I added Earpro and Facescarf.

Close up of Ramirez' DMR - Based, on a Wargames Factory Apocalypse Survivors, M16 with plastirod and a 1/35 scale Live-Resin Elcan Optic.

Closeup of Doc's backpack - 1/35 scale Live-Resin Molle Pouch and cutters from TinyTactical.com, a little big, but looks cool.

The original USMC head, has been replaced with one, from the Wargames Factory Apocalypse Survivors, and added som Greenstuff Earpro.
The other guy, got the spare head from a previous conversion, (throw nothing out!) also added Earpro and facescarf.

Note the front groin plate, is replaced with a fanny-pack.

ISA Agent Cat, also got a scarf, that really helps with the neck thing.

Hopefully next update will have some paint in it!

I'm really enjoying these small conversions - I've been working with plastics and resin for ages now, so its fun to get back into metals.

Update - with paint!

A little one on one with DEA Agent Martinez

Still need to do finish the base and add some more red wash to the sunglasses and maybe darken the Go-Bag a bit - also I'm not sure about the Jeans - might redo them.

First time painting dark skin too - not to bad I think... Although I suck at faces!

I rather like the jeans, looks bang on for faded denim. What would you change?

Thanks Ash - I'm a big fan of your work.

I'd like the jeans to be a bit darker, with maybe some more stone-wash to them - also, more grit.

I ususally give my models a light desert sand dusting - that might do the trick.

The model actually looks a lot better IRL - But alas I'm limited to my phonecam at the moment.

Also seing that "baby's got back", I'm inclined to add a little pouch, or something, to deflect focus!
