Activating and ganging up
« on: December 14, 2015, 01:48:27 PM »
I played the first game last night and afterwards this came up.

A wizard activates and "group activates" 3 henchmen. 2 of the henchmen move into contact with another players thug. 2nd Activation the henchmen fight the Thug rolling once and adding an additional +2 for the extra man.

If the wizard had "normal activated" one henchman contacts the Thug and then fights (no bonus). Say he wins and does not push back (or disable) his opponent. Now the second henchman activates and moves to contact. Is there then a further combat this time with a +2 bonus?

Should the group activation actually break down into 2 fights? If so they would both get a bonus? What if the thug wins the first and elects to push back presumably he can push back both?

That is the bonus of a group activation - because you move them all first before doing their 2nd activations you can potentially get a better "Gang Up" bonus for each figure compared to activating them one at a time.

To answer your questions:

1. Yes, there would be a 2nd combat, and yes, the 2nd henchman would get the +2.

2. If the Thug wins he only gets to push back the henchman he was fighting, not anyone giving a gang up bonus (and no, he can't push back himself to get out of combat).

Ah ok so in "group activation" both henchmen fight once with a +2 bonus. (so 2 fights at +2) I thought maybe just 1 fight as the other is assisting.

Rather than "normal activation" where both fight once only the second one at +2.

With group activation the wiz or apprentice and each other soldier (up to 3) all first move then they each can do another action such as attacking. Theoretically you could get four attacks on an opponent model all with +6 (for 3 extra guys) if you did it right and ganged up on one guy.
