Southern Plantation Building
« on: 22 December 2015, 10:16:24 AM »
Does anyone recognize this building? It was made by The London War Room. I know this because it says so on the sticker on the inside of the building.
I'm pretty sure that I got this at a Historicon sometime in the '80's. I recall that the gent that I got it from, had made arrangements to pick it up at Historicon to avoid shipping charges and damages'
Anyway, he changed his mind and I ended up with it.

It's about 2 x 2 feet and has a lift off roof. Looks to be totally scratchbuilt.
Needs a ton of work landscaping.

But back to my original question. Is it supposed to represent a specific location, or is it just a random building?
I'm asking because I was going to use this as the main house for my AWI Loyalist Plantation. But more and more I'm thinking that it looks more ACW to me. Am I correct in thinking this?

Opinions wanted.

Indeed an impressive building.

The masonry contruction is what's throwing me together with the railings and basement. The stereo typical southern plantation building would be timber but I am sure there must be exceptions?

Looks Northern and 18th Century to me. Southern antebellum would be wooden and have large verandas all around the house with large windows to combat the heat. Also characteristically big wooden pillars on the front portico, all painted white.
