A little question to you because I am not shure.
Do you think for cavalry mount it would be better a armoured warhorse or a griffon style like in the attached sketch?

Would a wolf be a better mount for a fantasy Roman?
It would fit in with Romulus & Remus.

As enemies, there is a early stage plan for male and female gladiators.
Something like this for the male ones:

But not finally decided yet.
Love the first one. It would be a great looking figure!

Apologies for being dim, but when we say AoS scale, do we mean AoS scale of a standard human (like the Korne barbarian dudes) or scale them to match the Sigmarines?

Either way, I would very much be interested in a Fantasy Roman Force to act as a Remnant state hellbent on bringing back the glory of the -INSERT GENERIC NAME HERE- Empire.

Although I'd like my Romans to have normal Horse cavalry, I don't mind animal style cavalry, just I tend to reserve those for non-human races, or specialist units/characters.

I like the images, but the 36mm option is a bit oversized for it, especially with the heroic proportions.

Most peoples collections for such games tend to be in the 25-32mm. Mixing in their tends to be within "normal" variation (at least with humans). Going larger also tends to make terrain end up looking a bit off in comparison.

Odd scales also don't sell that well anyway.

I understand the desire to go bigger for your own preferences. But, if you do want to try to sell these, I would also recommend going with the 28mm scale. I would definitely pick some of these up if they end up in a comparable size as my existing Otherworld/ Redbox /Citadel collection. If you do go bigger, I have no interest in them. They do look great though & I wish you the best on whatever you decide.
cheers-

I'd have to agree if you're going to try to sell them...if not, whatever you'd like.  I'd go down to 30-32mm for some crossover sales, with the figures still being relatively large.

A lot of games have suffered in the 35-36mm area because it's such a proprietary scale.

I would also have to support reducing the size somewhat if they are going to be up for sale.

Though I appreciate wanting to have them larger (my old man is having similar issues) Sigmarines are pretty big guys even compared to Games Workshops average 28mm Human which I quite like scale wise (easier to paint, and the Barbarians look more Barbarianish  lol).

However, perhaps a way around this is to do some larger Romans in the scale you are looking at, perhaps give them some of those Cavalry masks with the helmet and sell them as Half Ogre auxiliaries or whatever.

25/28mm would be too small IMO, I reckon 30/32mm would be a good compromise. Whichever you choose, some will like it, some not.

I find these fascinating, you never see Romans like this. The sculpting work is stunning.

Osprey have Broken Legions, a fantasy Roman game, coming out later this year.

These would be perfect for it.

 ;)
I have romans from Aventine (in my eyes the best EIR) , Prince August, Warlord, Victrix, Foundry (Perry), Foundry Imperial, A&A Miniatures, Andrea Miniatures etc.
With this project I leave the historical way and go with fantasy romans.
I like the bulky old style for many reasons.
The scale depands on personal like, not which would better to sell.
Selling is for me not important, I am a roman style miniatures fanatic and first time have enough money to do that, what I like  ;)
Some time ago I have big hopes about the mierce miniatures fantasy romans, but look like it ends:
http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2015/7/6/726763_sm-Byzantii,%20Darklands,%20Legionaries,%20Mierce.JPG
I am no fan of the new style infinity or others "real dimensions" miniatures.
I am a big fan of the frostgrave bulky miniatures.
As allways, some like this, other like this.
For this project here I have the luck to have the in my eyes best 3D fantasy scuptor and also the best man for 3D printing and casting, who use exact that resin I favour.
For me all is very good, i know what happen to the 36mm ranges like WWE or others.
But again, for me the sigmarines scale is that what I like to see on the tabletop for my romans.
When Joel is ready with the castings I will send some interested peoples a mini or two, but only when the will send me some photos of their painted legionaries which I could show you here and in other forums. ;) :D

Thank you all for your interest and your comments.
