Wendigo

I finally sprung for a "Wendigo".  I saw the figure I wanted a few months back, and have been looking for a good deal...and gave up.  I snagged the AE-WW2 one with all the nice, exposed inards (pic of fig can be seen here: Just A Sample Pic Of Painted Wendigo   ).

I was not in a huge rush to get the figure as the Wendigo seemed to me to one of the most powerful lurkers in the game when the cost is considered.

What are your impressions of this critter in the game?

mmmm... I did as well when I saw it on line.  But, I just spent over an hour simply attaching 2 arms and 2 antlers.

I have been painting toys soliders for over 45 years.  This sculpt is a beautiful work of art, and a horrid piece of crap when it comes to manufacturing/production.  Seriously, it was cast so stupidly as to make the assembly 100 times more difficult than it needed to be.  Just plain stupid.

Considering the price and how (INSANELY) cheaper you can get a plastic one on-line (about 1/10th the cost) I would *NOT* advise anyone to buy this figure now.  Hell, I could have bought 3 of the plastics, used my knife, glue and customized one all to hell...in less time than it took to assemble this piece of crap.  Yes, this figure really pissed me off.  Hell will freeze over before I buy another from this line.

That is i believe close to the indian legends I also have that minture cost about £10 to £12 if i recall correctly

The original legends vary wildly from tribe to tribe in regards to what they look like, so you actually kind of have your pick from several very different archtypes when shopping for an "authentic" looking mini.

Personally I've always favored the degenerate human look. The legends describe tragic monsters, so I don't like the versions that get rid of all their humanity or make them look burly and healthy. IMO though they are horrifying predators, they are also horrifying in that they used to be normal people, but are now sort of supernatural junkies whose lives are physically and emotionally miserable. Always hungry, always cold. Intellegent but perpetually in a state of hypoglycemic dementia. Supernaturally strong and hardy, but always looking and feeling like they're on the ragged edge of starvation and hypothermia no matter what they do. Creatures who would probably commit suicide if the cravings ever gave them a break.

I'm going to use Hasslefree's "Mutant Willow" for mine.
