Thanks guys- all comments are very much appreciated and are all well read!

@Captian, the painting was mostly done recently, the basing was left to last thus the rapidity of the posts.

@Mason, they were all pretty brave chaps. I cannot say that I would be all that keen to stand among the front ranks of a shieldwall

Hopefully another base today, then later that of Godwinson [more praying hands]

Again, a good mix of manufacturers- just goes to show that a paint job can remedy some size differences as long as it's not too severe.

I'm trying to sort out a background..... I used to have a wide blue gradient but it got messed up

Thanks guys... just got Godwinson's base to photograpth now for completeness.

Will hopefully get that done today.

Then to find a decent background for the group hug shots!

I've taken some pics of the whole front rank, I guess you would call it a unit although it will be backed with a rank of Ceorl bases of which I'll take a pic of when I have found a background big enough to manage both units- any suggestions? I do need to take some larger pics too!

Overall I'm quite pleased with the animated look that I've managed- reminds me a little of the strip of the Bayeux Tapestry with the Huscarls thrusting their spears and axes which was what I was looking for.
