Quick picture of the Junker tank next to a non heroic 28mm miniature as stated above quite huge for 6mm miniatures. More pictures of other tanks in my Wargame News and Terrain review so you can use the picture below to estimate their relative size. http://wargameterrain.blogspot.be/2016/01/myriad-games-age-of-tyrants-tanks.html?m=1

Oh, that's quite a bit bigger than I thought. I was expecting them to be roughly equal in bulk to 28mm figures. That's more like thrice the bulk. The price of the tanks makes a lot more sense now.

Yeah, we priced them up against Flames of War tanks.

Sorry we weren't more clear from the off, but we'll fix that!

Another question: If new unit types are added to the KS, will they be "Pledge Level" products or "Add-On" products? Like, if I pledge for Level 2 (£96), can I use part of that £96 to get any of the new units or must I add more money to the pledge in order to buy them as add-ons?

Also, I just watched the promo video for the KS. Is it possible at all to get this product without the flames and the heavy metal?  :P ;)

EDIT: Yet another question: How much does the game revolve around this notion of tanks in squadrons of four? Once the KS is completed and the game is on the regular market, will tanks be available in singles?

Hey Rhoderic,

Little bit of both. I think most, if not all, units will be options to select as part of your pledge. It will only be accessories that are not, like dice, special tokens, etc.

I know the rulebook is planned to be a freebie as an unlock...

HAHA - Sorry, but we're all raving metalheads here, so we went with what felt comfortable to us. Just be glad I didn't choose the song, otherwise you'd be listening to my old Grindcore band, Savage Logic... ;)

The Platoons are bought as Platoons. Each Platoon can cost 1, 2 or 3 points, depending on what their combat role is. Therefore, basic infantry will be 1 point, elite infantry and basic tanks are 2 points and Battletanks, Fliers, etc are 3 points! Simple!

Single tanks literally have no role in the game, except for commanders. It's all to do with the command and control aspect of the game itself. It's about how you use stuff together, and once they start being unable to work together (due to loss of command, not coherency, as there is no coherency), their combat effectiveness is SEVERELY reduced.

I absolutely loved Urban War... Terrific rules, setting and models. It's too bad that UW's designer John Grant is not involved in this project in some capacity as it could lend some sense of continuity to the games (even though they are very different scales and my beloved Triads wouldn't be present). That brings up an interesting question... Is the universe of Age of Tyrants the same as the universe of Iskandria?

The game from the beta rules looks interesting... Simple but flexible (I like the idea that you have to coordinate different units to achieve different goals every turn). The rules for supporting fire are a little unclear though... Are you adding +1 per supporting base or a number equal to the Support score of each supporting base? If the latter, it reminds me a bit of Epic Armageddon, where some units were better at melee in close combat and others were better at firefight support. The special order cards, however, remind me a lot of Epic 40k 3rd Edition. It's also interesting that vehicles and infantry are essentially targetted and destroyed in the same way (through suppression), although vehicles are tougher overall.

 Backed this now ;).

Looking forward to seeing what happens once the project gets funded.Very nearly there now.

It has been mentioned that the Iskandrians will be making an appearance along with lots of other cool pieces from the Void range.

Maybe as some kind of mercenary unit ? I'm quite sure my VASA captain would want some sumo bodyguards :D

@Galadrin: Yep, Iskandrians could get involved later on in the project. As for the supporting fire, yes, you add a set amount for bases which are supporting, based on an actual 'supporting fire' (or something similar) statline.

The game is really great. :)

Oh - and Triads could appear. Just as a small mercenary force that VASA has access to.

@Manic_miner: Thanks man. :)

Right then, here's the skinny folks! I haven't updated recently, and John went MENTAL with updates on KS, so I have collated the news here for you all in one bite size chunk!

First up, we've made some super simple starter armies for you to select as your pledges. They come in 3 forms.

1: Mixed Company - a combination of Infantry and tanks
2: Infantry Company - a Company purely composed of Infantry stands (and Armoured Personnel Carriers, where appropriate).
3: Armour Company - a Company purely composed of Armour (Vehicles) stands

Firstly, the Mixed Companies:

Next up, the Vehicle Companies:

Then there's the Infantry Companies:

Syntha one is missing... John! SYNTHA ONE IS MISSING!!!! :D

Okay, I'll find out what's happened.

In the meantime, we hit some stretch goals!

First off, we have tokens (you'll need them!) which will come FREE.

There's also been some KS Exclusive ADD ONS made available.

Just remember, this is on Kickstarter NOW - and we need all the support we can get to make it MASSIVE!

Here's the figures.

There is still the VA3A CLAU to be unlocked...

Well, it's always worth having two factions - so they can play against each other. :)
