It's still Hoka Hey I think - Timeline are just stocking and selling the range it seems. On the HH Facebook page they've got details of planned new releases including shots of some new Reivers but not sure if these are original Jim Bowen sculpts, or new ones 'in the style of'. They already added Irish gallowglass and a mounted General since acquiring the range from Cran Tara IIRC.

Very characterful figures - definitely 'large' 28s and the horses aren't great: I substituted plastic Warlord horses for mine - a bit on the small side but they pass muster as Borders ponies I think.

How large? I'm a bit leery of Bowen sculpts these days because of compatibility issues.

I recall that Graven Images labelled these figures as 28mm (or was it 30mm?) despite having labelled all their other Bowen ranges as 36-40mm, so that made me hopeful that they were more sensibly sized.

I had most when the first came out, the are well fed chaps I would say around, 30mm or so, I struggled to find any alternatives to match, foundry swashbucklers and the vendel reivers being closest but more slightly built.

Saying that the range has both mounted and dismounted figures plus civilians so really very well self contained range

Thanks. Maybe not as bad as all that, then. I do have some of the Vendel figures (bought when first released), though, and they strike me as quite well-fed, big-headed chaps themselves.

(Some of the Foundry Swashbucklers are somewhere in the lead pile as well, but I can't recall how big they struck me.)

To be honest, my most immediate interest is in the civilians alone, for mixing with other ranges.

I'm also undecided as to whether I love or hate the horses. They do have a stylish flair about them, but in a vaguely cartoonish sense.

I think I've got enough horses go spare to make some good swaps. As long as I know who to buy them.from!

I'd like to see it too. I'm sure shipping to the US would be crazy, but it would be nice as a reference, at least!

Likewise, pic would be nice. I surely can't afford to buy it but to inspire my own build at some point perhaps :)

We've got a Reivers campaign coming up at the club, sometime after our current Haggis Rampant campaign using the Bowen sculpts. A few members of the club have collected quite a large number of 'em so it would be rude not to!

Also, I think the original Jim Bowen sculpts have bags and bags of character, the stuff that's been added to the range by a different sculptor just are not of the same quality.

Darrell.

I recently painted some of these for SJWalker and replaced the original horses with plastic Warlord Games horses, I think they work ok and here are some photos to help you decide.

Jeff, your thread and painting are what got me interested in doing this range. Someone talked abt scenarios on the border, I did a search, found your painting, and bang! Another project...
