Scale Comparisons needed: VicTrix/Fireforge/Warlord figures
« on: January 22, 2016, 10:20:00 AM »
Working on a project, would like to know if the heads from the Victrix Republican Romans/Carthaginians or the heads from the Warlord Hoplites or Caesarian Romans would fit and look right on the Fireforge Teutonic/Templar infantry/Cavalry.

Thanks if anyone has those figures and can help me out.

I have the Fireforge Teutonic Infantry and Caesarian Romans. I would say Warlord's figures are taller although the heads are similar and might work together.

You can interchange the heads freely.
They are perfectly compatible.

You have lots of ideas and pictures here:

The only ones I would be doubtful about are the Warlord Greeks as they are rather slimmer and more proportional than the others. Warlord do sell individual spruces of them, if not all the time, then during the occasional sale, so you can try a few without too much layout in expense. (Love those Roman street gangs btw rumacara.)

I actually just got the newsletter that Warlord is giving free shipping so I did order some to sample.

I'd really love it if the Victrix were the right scale, but the pics I have seen make them look a little larger.

Thanks for the idea!

The Warlord greeks where made from Immortal miniatures and yes they are smaller and thinner so the heads will be smaller too.
You can mix well victrix/warlord/fireforge.
Also worth checking gripping beast dark ages bareheads. Very usefull.

AdamPHayes thanks for the compliment. A project to finish some day.

Yeah, the street gangs are cool. Especially love the mounted guys and the gladiators! Oh and that bald guy!

Thanks KGatch113. :)
As you can see there are lots of diferente manufacturers/heads/bodies mixed together.
I also have some fireforge miniatures transformed that i can send you pics if that helps you.

Fireforge mix well quite with the Northstar Frostgrave figures, and the Frostgrave ones give loads of spare heads.
Maybe you could ask if anyone has any spares they'd be willing to part with?

IIRC it was explicitly mentioned that they were sculpted to be compatible with fireforge.

And I belive the Fireforge stuff goes quite well with the Gripping Beast stuff.

Re: Warlord
The Caesarian Romans and Macedonians are bigger than the EIR, and the ex-Immorta Hoplites are quite slight as well. So the Caesarians and Macedonians, I think, should work with the Fireforge/GBP.

Really one of these days I would like a seller to sell individual sprues from all these compatible brands. Or even a box with one sprue of each type, rather then 4-6 of the same as they normaly are sold.

I hear you, but plastics are a bit of a weird thing for that. On the one hand, making them is expensive and so they're best sold to people who'll buy lots in one go for big battle type games. On the other, they're so easy to customise and kitbash that people who like DIY skirmish games will one want a lot of variety.

I'm in the latter boat, but I'm slowly accumulating a bit of a variety. What I'd really like to do is some kind of sprue exchange, but postage rates in Canada are off the hook, and I'm having some serious difficulty finding anyone even vaguely locally who wants to split some boxes. On the upside, winding up with all these boxes makes putting together Saga and Lion Rampant games really easy. :P

Sort of my exact thoughts. I want to make up some armies for both skirmish gaming, big armies to play To the Strongest, and then have parts to customise characters for RPG gaming.

The market pretty much covers everything i want except no one, for fantasy gaming, makes cheap, decent, non GW/LOTR elves, so I have to kitbash them. Which on one hands makes them more expensive, but I can always use the parts for other conversions etc.
