scratch built railcar cannon and train for whatever...
« on: 22 January 2016, 09:14:41 PM »
Hi all...a new project I'm working on...
Here is the inspiration photo...

....and here is what I have so far...still a WIP...the train engine is sheet plastic and cardboard, part of a soda bottle for the nose and the chassis and wheels are from EZ-TEC battery operated train...

the cars are mostly scratch built from plastic card except of course the wheels...

I still have some details and weathering to do...I am thinking this can be played out with or without the coal car...as in a futuristic game...or with coal car...with the engine just being a "streamliner" design...
Anyhow, let me know what y'all think...I'm hoping to finish up in a week or so
Cheers,
Carl

That train looks sweet.  I've been meaning to get a train for my VSF setting.  How does it scale with 28mm figures?

BTW, love the van photo bombing in the last pic  lol

Now that is interesting as I made that years ago for a Salute demo (the last one at Kensington I believe)  :)

I've still got the loco if you would like some more pictures but everything else went the way of the bin apart from the mining tower which is now on Mars.

Looking forward to seeing what you do  :)

cheers

Do the Eztec rails match up with the Goldlock rails?

Jimbibbly!!...I thought that may have been yours...I just could not remember where I had gotten the pic from...I loved what you had done in that effort...and I'd LOVE to have some more shots of that engine if you could spare the time!...Thank you!

Mysteriousbill,...I am not sure...but I will post a pic of the tracks in the morning after I get home from work...I do know that the width of the wheels is consistent with "O" gauge tracks...

Rich H,.....That piece is awesome!!...I had done a ton of research on some railcar cannons from WW1-ish into the 50's...looking mostly for simple designs of both carriage and cannon...
I will probably add a few simple outriggers before I am done with my version....

Thank you for the replies to my post!!
Cheers,
Carl

...just a little update on the cab of the locomotive, and a removable plate over the coal bin to make it a futuristic fuel car...
The white rings in the cab will eventually become gauges, or some other point of visual interest...
