Skaven Weapon Teams
« on: 02 February 2016, 11:06:44 PM »
I've been playing Vermintide lately and it got me thinking I should revisit some of my old Warhammer skaven. While I'm not sure how effective they are on the table, they certainly were fun to paint up.

Looking good. Nice metals on the, er, spiky wheel thingy. :)

For Warhammer, or any other rules in mind?

We started with WFB back in 3rd edition and although I have later versions, it seems a bit overwhelming. We started playing Kings of War about a year ago and that's proven to be quite fun for our group. Not too complicated...not too simple.

I'm not even sure what system people are playing these days. Suggestions?

Thanks!

From what I hear, a lot of WFB players moved to KoW, especially after the shift from WFB 8th edition to AoS. :) Some stuck with 8th or earlier editions, and some tidied 8th up and turned it into The Ninth Age.

And some of us are looking at Dragon Rampant and Mayhem. ;)

Nice set of heavy weapons  :)

... While I'm not sure how effective they are on the table, they certainly were fun to paint up.

And when has effectiveness ever entered a skaven players plan?  For me most of the fun has been watching my own weaponry do nothing, massive damage or just blow up - actually it's normally the first or last thinking on...

For me, Songs of Blades suffice rather than big numbers of troops but out of the rule sets I've got Kngs of War or Rebel Miniatures Mighty Armies sit well.  The latter give fewer troop choices but smooth playing where as KoW harks back to early GW.

Good point! Looking forward to checking out Dragon Rampant, Mayhem and Mighty Armies. Excited to get some miniatures back on the table.

Cheers!
