1920s US Military Vehicles
« on: 10 December 2008, 05:04:46 PM »
Does anyone know what trucks the US Military were using in the 1920s to transport troops and artillery, and if they had any armoured cars?
Waiter, my soup is giggling.

Definitely going to get myself a Lancia armoured car from Force of Arms. I can't believe that there is such a shortage of WW1 soft skin vehicles for wargaming in 25/28mm. I really wanted a Liberty truck to use for troop transport, as it's the most likely candidate for use in the US and Banana Wars up to the early 30s, but there isn't a miniature, model or diecast to be found. Looks like I'll have to use a couple of Sloppy Jalopy Thornycroft J Type military pick ups. I know Company B have the model T variants, but the bed size of the pick up version just seems too small. Maybe Company B will consider making a Liberty?

Perhaps you'll might want to use a US 6-tonner tank M1917 as well...

http://www.landships.freeservers.com/m1917_6tonner_late.htm

They were the standard US light tanks until 1931.
To convert it from an "ordinary" FT-17 shouldn't be too difficult and you'll have a lame excuse to use a tank... lol lol lol

Naah, I want to do WW1 skirmish at some point so I'll paint up an ordinary FT-17 for US service in WW1, but thanks for the links and help Trencher
