For some weird reason I can't get my head around whether that grass works or not. It's stupidly easy to get on table but think its maybe 'not quite right'.

Maybe if it was not so green, it looks quite lush, perhaps a little more brown and parched would help to give it a more arid look?

I think your right...I'll hit it with the yellow spray can and see if I can 'knock the green' out of it a bit and see how that looks  ;) ;)

Whenever I bite down hard on eye candy, it hurts my retinas for some reason.

Nice work.

Gents,

I've added a few support crew to the Masai horde. Just a bit of eye candy without too many words..let the pictures do the talking  :D

The figures are painted excelently but the shields designs are inspired. Yours or originals?

"the shields designs are inspired."  :)

My own scribblings. ;)

Trying to get 60+ shields each different is a bit of a challenge but once you get the hang of it after 20 or so you start to get better  ::)

I rely heavily on marker pens and a steady hand. You need to be careful on some pens as they 'bleed' when given a varnish..particularly army painter spray. I have an artists matt varnish which is probably better. That said, even 'mistakes' just look like real shields with a twist..after all, all they are is someone sitting down and painting their own..they should all be a bit quirky and different IMO.

Cheers
