Some sci-fi pensioners...
« on: February 28, 2016, 11:54:10 AM »
And also a bit of an introduction!

I'm dieselmonkey, (also known as Evo in the real world), former GW staffer from back in the mists of time before the red period, and what can be politely known as an Archaeogamer. I mainly play WFB3 and RT40k, so most of my models are aimed at those worlds. I've been a lurker on here for a long time, but someone mentioned you guys might like to see these fellas...

Anyway, enough about me, I give you the brave pensioners (and only surviving members) of the 6th Mordian Regiment, also known as the 'Flying Ripperfish' (Retd.), currently on the run from the mandatory retirement planet Chel-5EA.

These basically came about after a jokey conversation about what happened to the few IG members who actually made it to retirement age. I figured that if they weren't executed outright they'd be sent to a mandatory retirement planet, as they'd clearly be psychotic, and unsuited to civilian life. However, as the most indestructible warriors in the universe, they'd probably get bored there and frequently try to escape, hence these models.
(Bigger pics and more background fluff is in my blog in the sig, if you're that way inclined)

These are absolutely amazing. Really nice reds.

Laughed pretty hard at "sci-fi pensioners", too.

Fitting tribute.   :(

Some nice conversions.  :)

I've just seen that, it was strangely apt timing. On my part, not his, obviously!

And thanks everyone! I really need to stat them up for Rogue Trader, and take them on an expedition!  :)

Oh my stars and little comets. These are some brill-i-ant ole' buggers! I maybe have to steal the bewhiskered idea for the day I eventually get around to doing a few IG...

Sad to hear about Frank Kelly.  :'(

That's just wonderful. I'd wondered once or twice as to where the retirees go.  :)

If you'd put 40K in the title I wouldn't have looked at this thread.....I'm glad you didn't, I would have missed these! Cracking job! Love seeing Lemmy live on!

The conversions are great (love the wheelchair!), but the premise alone is hilarious!

However, as the most indestructible warriors in the universe, they'd probably get bored there and frequently try to escape, hence these models.

I can't help thinking of this as a TV Sitcom - like Hogan's Heroes in a nursing home!
