A herd is on the grid-line
« on: March 01, 2016, 11:59:27 AM »
If you'll excuse my shocking pun, these are the reinforcements for my Seleucid elephant herd for the big "To the Strongest!" Raphia game at the Wargames Holiday Centre, the week after Salute.

Four (well, four and a bit) elephants, three Aventine and one OOP Timeline with Aventine Crew.  They were mostly painted by a mate Shaun McTague but I did some detailing (including the skin pigmentation), assembled and based.

There is a whole lot more about them on t'blog at http://bigredbat.blogspot.co.uk/2016/03/raphia-elephants.html?google_comment_id=z13njduj3oamshaaa04chxrgwzibg1eyhjw&google_view_type#gpluscomments.

Best, Simon

Couldn't agree more. Stolen brilliant idea ahead!

Terrific models, nothing finer than a well painted elephant except FOUR well painted elephants!

Beautiful setup! The foot figures next to the elephants give a great feeling to the bases!
Maybe - but it's just me - painting the base edges in black?

Thanks chaps!

Hi Sangennaru, I find the brown blends better with the earth shades I use on the tables.  It's easier, too!

They come up very well Simon, the pigmentation gives them even more character.   I did buy a couple of plastic calfs, may use them in the same way.

Stunning!
 :-* :-*

What really cracks it is the composition of the bases, each one a diorama of its own, but all together: Simply amazing.
