Earlier in the week I assembled some Cadian plastic using the Heroic Scale heads - a popular conversion. There's a head from each set here - Berets, Vets, Bald et al - with one of the new heads on the end.

I've been fiddling about with heads after Vermis wondered about these figures in a different thread (please excuse the slightly glare-y phone pics).

Space Miners! I tested a couple of heads on the new GW Hybrids from Deathwatch: Overkill. The bald head is a Heroic Scale head, while the other is a Pulp Scale head. Both are production castings with a coat of primer for the photos.

Due to the high collars of the Hybrids, Heroic Scale Female Heads with hair mostly don't fit, but the bald head does look pretty bad ass. The larger Heroic head is also a closer match for the Cadian, while the smaller Pulp head matches the hybrid. GW proportions are clearly changing.

In a couple of months I'll hopefully have the bald Pulp heads on sale. They might look a bit lost on the hybrid figure but if you bulked out the cranium for a suitably alien look it could work.

Booyah!  :D

I got a set of heroic bald heads through Squidoo. In the meantime I found an alternative for their original job, but they're definitely going towards some hybrids, now!

Edit: ah... I just calmed down enough to notice you used different scaled head in the two pics. The heroic head seems like it matches the hybrid head pretty well, but is that because the hybrid's a bit pumpkin-headed? The pulp head fits pretty well too, which is why I didn't notice. I might have to get a set of those too, to check. ;)

I received a very generous offer of a set of pulp-scale bald head masters, and that's not something you can easily say 'no' to. Thanks Andrew! I pulled out a sprue of genestealer hybrids and started tinkering for myself

As Andrew says, the pulp scale head is a closer match for the hybrid facial features. It does look a bit small for the body, but I think bulking up the pumpkin skull and adding a bit of the ol' B'elanna Torres helps the effect. It still has to fight against the wide shoulders and huge hands, though. (I think Andrew had the right idea, using armoured shoulders and gloved hands)
I still think both heroic and pulp heads could work. It might depend on whether you want to match other hybrid heads, or match the body proportions. Either way, you're well catered for!
