New Renedra castle, tower etc
« on: 17 March 2016, 11:18:09 PM »
Hadn't clocked this until today, but it appears to be all over TMP and various other places on the internet. Surprised it hasn't appeared here yet. Or perhaps it's been posted somewhere else and I've missed it.

It looks like a realistic-looking 28mm castle kit is finally about to come onto the market  :o :-*
All good things come to he who waits, and I've been waiting a long fecking time for the right castle to come along.
Seems it's nearly here... The initial tower due to be released at Salute, with the full castle to follow, and many more parts in the pipeline - happy days :)

Got to say, it looks bloody good. And versatile. Lots of pics on the following places...

Here, what the ingenious Perrys have started doing with the components to build an abbey... Kitbashing it already. I am already looking forward to doing the same  :)

I've finally found my white walls of Minis Tirith was my reaction when these got listed on the Renedra site. I quite like the style they've gone for.

I'm sorry guys but this gets a thumbs down from me.  :( It is wrong on so many levels, least of all in that it makes no military architectural sense.  >:( >:( >:( I fail to see why someone would lovingly research a medieval army and yet opt to use a hollywood/toy fort mash up as a theatrical prop  :?

I've been following the building of the Abbey on the Perry Facebook page with eagerness- looks to be a very useful piece of kit indeed.

Looks like it's going to be an expensive Salute even though I'm not going to be present! Lots of brill stuff coming out :)

Darrell.

I agree sukhe_bator.

I certainly don't want a Frostgrave tower!

I'll be kit bashing.

Already started collecting early 15thC architectural imagery ;) :)

The modular nature and conversion potential are its merits.  As a castle or tower kit, not so much.  I'd much prefer the Hudson & Allen castle with the laser-cut mdf hoardings that we've seen amazingly converted by Painterman and his scenery-savant chum. For me, that's the gold standard.

Still, it's fun to imagine the potential - particularly with the Perry's project.

I don't know about parts to make it more fantasy, it could do with some round towers to make it less Pre-13th Century.  ::)

It has its utilities for general building work and interiors though... such as the Perry's are doing.

When you compare it with classy stuff like this from 1:1 scale, the failings of the Renedra stuff become all the more apparent  :(.
This is the C13 gatehouse from the De Clare's castle seat at Tonbridge in Kent. Meutrieres and arrowslits, portcullis, meutrieres and arrowslits, all before you even get to the door.

and a model of it in working life...

You do not want to mess with this puppy! >:D

and how much would that cost for us mere mortals to construct?

That's a large number of £36 towers - better off building in blue foam
