Round-cornered plastic bases?!
« on: March 20, 2016, 10:43:17 PM »
I've probably missed somewhere really obvious, but is there anywhere out there which sells round-cornered plastic bases, 40x15mm or 40x20mm, that sort of thing. If anyone is familiar with bases that come with the By Fire & Sword miniatures from Wargamer in Poland, exactly those...

I've trawled google, ebay etc, I can find plastic slottabases, mdf bases, frames of plastic bases from Renedra, but just can't seem to find what I'm looking for.

Obvious question being, anyone know where I can get round-cornered plastic bases, rectangular and ideally about 40mm x15mm?

Cheers!
Rob

I've rounded off the corners on rectangular bases before very easily with sandpaper, if that's any help.

The Flames of War bases were rounded, but not in the sizes you want.  Renedra likely makes some of those sizes, but not rounded.  Have you tried contacting the manufacturer of those minis to see who their supplier is?  Perhaps they sell additional bases.

Either that, or Warbases will make MDF ones for you!

Proxie models bases all have rounded edges and a very slight rounding of the corner. They are available in just about any size used in wargaming.

They are solid cast so if you need to sand a bit more curve into the corner you don't risk breaking through the base.

Kallistra

Aye, that.

If you decide you want 40x20mm rather than 40x15, I have a bunch of the tan ones sitting around, doing nothing. ;)

Order whatever size you want, rounded bases if desired, in several different materials and thicknesses from Litko using Litko's "Base Maker" here:

A Crop-a-Dile will round corners on Renedra bases.

http://smile.amazon.com/We-Memory-Crop--Corner-Chomper/dp/B0024M5GH4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1460943788&sr=8-1&keywords=crop+a+dile+corner+chomper

I have 2, 1 with 1/4" and 1/2', and one with 1/8" and 3/8". It takes a strong squeeze to cut a Renedra base, but I end up with very uniform corners, perfect for gamer OCD.

Victrix bases have rounded corners if 40 x 20 is okay.

I really like the victrix ones and was going to suggest them. They also cut easily and can then be reshaped.

I'm using the kallistra bases for my 10mm armies, if you want to see them in action I'll search the pics ;)
