Stargate Game in a Ruined City
« on: March 26, 2016, 09:29:43 AM »
When tidying up my computer files I came across some pictures of a Stargate game I played a while back, so I thought I'd share them here.  ;)

The Stargate looks like the old Monolith Designs one.

But I would like to know what rules you use.

Stargate sounds like it is just begging for a Frostgrave treatment!

Fastolfrus is correct, the Stargate is the Monolith one.

I used Chain Reaction 2.0 from Two Hour Wargames. Over the years I've used CR 2.0 for a lot of different genres, including a Stargate game with 10 players! Although I am looking around for another set of rules to try.

As Commander Roj Says, the terrain will be reused for Frostgrave, as soon as I sort out access to it in the loft where it has been stored for the past 3 years!

Honestly stargate feels like a natural fit for Pulp Alley. Been a while since I watched but IIRC there is pretty much always some macguffin that needs to be activated, de-activated, rigged, spoofed, rescued or what have you during an intense firefight around the gate. PA would be perfect for that. The rules are more narrative focused and the pulp leagues book with specific weapon rules might be good if you prefer that over the all round "shoot" stat, the vehicles book would be a must if you have death gliders or anything like that. But even with just the core book it would be a blast, to the point I'm thinking of what 15mm stuff I might rig up to play this myself!

I thought he was suggesting using a variant of Frostgrave rules.

Nice to see a Stargate game, I have yet to get my miniatures assembled and painted but when I do I think I'll be using 7TV for them as it seems like a perfect fit.

One of my regular gaming buddies has 7TV, but we haven't got a game in yet. He wants to run some 1970s cops/spies set games and wants to get the terrain right before we start!

I'd like to try the rules before buying them myself so I'm holding on for now.

Yes, we have seen a bunch of players using Pulp Alley for Stargate. It is a good match.
