I'd have been all over Dystopian Legions if they hadn't been so ridiculously out of scale with everything else..  :?
Here's hoping this stuff will actually manage to be in 15mm scale.

I would have gone in hard on the dystopian legion Brits if they would have fit in with the rest of my collection

Before it came out every forum had a whole heap of people saying they'd use them for imperial guard, who then instantly got put off by the scale.

To be fair on Spartan, their 10mm planetfall miniatures are great.. especially the infantry. The level of detail on those Aquans gives them real character (In contrast to the DZC boxed set figures, I was so disenchanted that I sold the whole lot off and never looked back!)

As a 15mm convert I'm really looking forward to seeing these in the flesh or resin, just hope the whole thing doesn't go the way of Planetfall and kind of run out of steam.

The game's up for pre-order at £65.00

Includes scenery and other gubbins. The important stuff (figures and vehicles) are:

UNSC 1,000 Point Battle Force – including 1x Officer, 1x Medic, 1x Radio Operator, 2x Snipers, 2x Spotters, 2x 2-man HMG Teams, 2x 2-man Missile Teams, 27x Troopers, 2x Warthogs (Gatling, Gauss and Rocket Weapons for each) and a 1x Spartan

Covenant 1,000 Point Battle Force – including 1x Elite Ultra, 2x Elite Minor, 3x Elite Majors, 6x Grunts with Fuel Rods, 24x Grunt Minors, 3x Ghosts with Grunt Operator and 2x Hunters.

Doesn't seem a lot of stuff for a 15mm game - almost skirmish sized forces. 20 custom dice, so lots of rolling  o_o

Only one Spartan eh?
Let's simulate the video game and send the poor chap on his own against the whole Covenant battle force.  :D

I like the sound of this but I think some photos would be nice. I know it's still early days but at £65 it would be nice to see exactly what you are purchasing. It would probably help shift a few too.

Now that they know the contents of the set i am sure they will be working on getting miniatures and other items painted and such to show us all.I wonder if the buildings will be like the Planetfall one's or resin.Looking forward to getting the game. There will be lots of pictures of the miniatures after Salute, just need to wait a little.

I'm also wondering how close they will come to the McFarlane stuff.  My kids got some for Christmas a few years back and I managed to find some at the bottom of the lego box.  Turns out the terrain wasn't half bad.

Yeah, I assume the spartan will be obscenely powerful.  HULK SMASH!   ;D

I was heavily into Dystopian Wars, sold it all now.  I would have loved Dystopian Legion in 15mm, it was rumored at the tine that Spartan where going to do a 10mm/15mm range of Legion but alas it never materialized

I won't be pre-ordering... but I've already warned my missus that there will be a £75 payment leaving the account this summer :)

My Grymn will finally get a lovely dropship :)

I think whatever existing gamer market exists, you are all underestimating the VAST Halo fanbase that has no miniatures. Are they going to care what scale it is? Probably not, they'll be coming from the boardgame and computer/console (well, duh, considering the IP  ::) ) worlds.

I also think that LAF can be somewhat of a 28mm echo chamber at times.  Sure, I collect mostly 28mm but for the few hours I was at Adepticon this year, it was amazing to see the growth/popularity of 15mm Sci-fi.  There is definitely a market for this game, and I think it will do fairly well.  I had been getting rid of my 28mm Sci-Fi and this just about seals the deal. I have enough infantry-only or infantry-mostly periods/genres in 28 already; the appeal of Sci-Fi gaming, to me anyway, is the stompy mechs and the gravtanks, and smaller scales make for better games with those.

I much prefer 28mm, but I say this only as a painter and collector.  I'm really not much of a gamer, but am addicted to buying into these sorts of things.

Plus, I'm a huge Halo fan, and if this is the only scale I can get, I'll still be excited!

Well, I decided to go ahead and sign up for the pre-order....

Mostly because I spotted a 25% discount coupon.

It was SOTPHALO25  but I think it's only good until tommorow (may 22).  If you were thinking of jumping in anyhow, you may as well take a quarter off....
