This is just partly relevant, but as I am a very happy man right now I would like to share with people who may just get how inspiring last Saturday night was.
As some members have been kind to notice, I recently turned 50. Early last week my wife told me to turn up in vintage black tie at an hotel in Stockholm. Encountering 4 of my best friends turned up for G&Ts and then ushered me to... lo and behold... the Museum of Mediterranean History in Stockholm. She had booked the restaurant located in the midst of all the sarcophagi, canopic jars, roman busts, Eutruscan bronzes and Turkish rugs. Awaiting in this splendor was 50 of my family /including the young Hammers in fezes" and friends, all dressed up to the theme of "The English Patient", "The Mummy" and "Indiana Jones". A rocking party! I am still flabbergasted and trying to absorb it all. I don't care that I may never be able to set foot in Mena House Hotel, now I have been able to do the second best thing.
