AEC Matador
« on: April 15, 2016, 10:52:38 PM »
For all your towing and transport duties - The AEC Matador - built this afternoon.

Still needs some detailing but not much and a driver...

To follow perhaps:
Another Matador (Possibly 2)
6x6 Matador (officially the Marshall)
Canvas tilt
Matador Wrecker
Deacon

As someone who has poorly put together vehicles from plastic card in the past, I am in awe.

How did you handle the wheels?  I assume they are from an existing kit?

Thanks!

Not casting them I'm afraid they are far too fiddly.
The wheels are mastered from hardboard on my Laser engraver.

I made them for my Boarhound but they are close enough for the Matador.

I'll finish the 6x6 and stop there.

Just need a 5.5" gun now.

Thanks.

Drybrushed them this morning.
They just need details now and my drivers from reiver castings.

Plan then is to make a removable canvas tilt.

Then i just need a 5.5" BL gun to tow...

I've built 3 as they are very quick to build!  Half a sheet of plasticard and about an hour for the basics.  Another couple of hours for the fiddly bits.

Finished the 6x6  last night.  Ready for a dab of filler and paint.

Next up probably a Scammell Pioneer or a Bedford QLD

Excellent work. Hope you don't mind me asking where did you get your plans for the Matador in 1/56?

Ste,

have a look here... ;)

https://www.google.it/search?q=aec+matador+blueprints&espv=2&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjggPHA5ZrMAhWLORQKHVhqDCsQsAQIHA&biw=1920&bih=965

Then, knowing that AEC Matador is 20 ft 10" long (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AEC_Matador) it's easy to scale any drawing to 1:56.

Hope this helps!

Exactly what he said, find a decent set of 3 axis and print it at 100% then measure something.
Then rescale as required and reprint in the required size.  Easy!
