Thanks for that wonderful and very informative list of regiments that served in NZ during the 1860's.

Tony Barton (AB miniatures) has a huge collection of what he calls 'dollies' - these approx 12 inch models. He showed me this one in particular, a member of the Yorkshire 65th in NZ:


He'd made the buckles and insignia himself - sculpted and cast them. I thought it was brilliant.

Anyways, he said the figure was one of the 'hickety pips' - after the maori approximation of 'hikete piwhete' for 'sixty five'.

His work in 1/6th is exceptional...if only we could get him to do 28mm they'd be some new competition in town...
