Made a snow troll!
« on: 25 May 2016, 11:00:54 AM »
Fancied having a bash at home-casting, and made myself a old-school style snow troll for Frostgrave. No phone call from GW's sculpting team yet  ;) but I'm happy with how the fellow turned out. Making a few conversions next. Sorry the pictures are so huge!

Very cool. I really like the paintjob you have done on him.

What do you use to cast this up, it's done in metal right?

I've never tried sculpting and casting my own minis, so bravo!
In addition to a snow troll, he'd make a great construct or golem.

Cheers guys!

He's cast up in metal, some old Prince August casting metal I had laying around (I have some of their molds too). It was fun to do, and actually pretty easy. I was surprised it worked so well!

Well done.

It almost looks like the old Jack Scruby fantasy figures.

Cool.

It might be the colours but somehow he makes me think of Adventure Time.

Ah OK. The mold was made from a two-part room temp cure silicone. Easy to find on evilbay, just make sure it is resistant to the temperatures neede for metal casting.

I have a load more beasties on the way, most are being cast up properly by someone who know what they're doing...

But I thought I'd have a go with the troll myself!
