Hi guys, not sure if this is the right section to post in, apologies if not.
I used to post here a while ago but haven't been active for a long time. I've been getting back into things recently painting and modelling, but am now finding I'm losing my enthusiasm again and I think it's down to not having any games or meetups to build projects around, I get a bit disillusioned making and painting models that never see any action. So, I'm posting on here and other forums I frequent with the hope of finding some gaming comrades.
A bit about me: I live in North London and work from home, so I'm in the same place a lot of the time! I'm 31-years-old and first got into Warhammer back in the 90s as a teenager but until now had taken a long hiatus from it as everyone I knew stopped playing/collecting. Have thought about getting back into the hobby many times but having people to play with has always been the issue. I live in a flatshare so I don't have room to host games at my place, unfortunately.
Quite a laidback guy, I used to play WHFB (5th edition), 40K, Necromunda and Gorkamorka. Always for fun, not bothered about winning just want cool, fun game sessions and the storytelling aspect. Perhaps get some regular meetups and campaigns going. Or if there are any clubs that would be great too.
These days I am interested in skirmish-level gaming including: Inquisimunda/Necromunda/Ash Wastes/Kill Team/Gorkamorka (or any mash-up thereof), also interested in exploring Warhammer Quest (the old one and the new one)/Talisman/HeroQuest/WHFRP and Mordheim as I never got involved in any of these but they appeal to the older me immensely.
I would like to try WHFB or 40k again but have considered going for 5th or 8th edition rules with 10mm scale miniatures, though this is perhaps something to try when/if I'm part of a more established group, as I appreciate it's a bit niche. I just don't have the stomach for big 28mm scale armies any more. I might even consider collecting opposing 10mm armies to get things going.
I'm not over fond of the way GW does things these days and don't care for AoS at all, but I must admit to being in love with the fluff and background of GW's legacy as that first got me into gaming and I find it such an inspiring setting. I've been active on the Ammobunker forums building Inquisimunda warbands (love Blanchitsu) but again, with no purpose to aim for it feels a bit lacking. I still buy some GW minis and use some of my old ones, but I'm not averse to using or playing against non-GW stuff too! I'm also into my history, mythology, and other fantasy literature (Tolkien, Robert E Howard, Mervyn Peake) so am up for gaming settings and rule systems outside of GW's canon.
I am mainly thinking of meet-ups and gaming at the weekend, I'm prepared to travel a bit across London or just outside but within reason as anyone who lives here knows it's a bit of a quest in itself!
Thanks to anyone who replies.
