Finished first US Para Squad!

Well I finally finished my first US paratrooper squad!  This guys have been a joy to paint and I can't wait to get onto the next squad 





And on a side note I'm actually short one SMG, I misscounted when I seperated out the models.  It's ok though cause I'll get him painted up next with the mortor crew.

Amazing. Especially the uniform is a treat! I am not a fan of such hard folds next to the mouth, but the skin tones are great as well. Beautiful squad.

However you should have painted the M1 Garand with more wooden parts around the barrel. They look like muskets!

Remington - Thanks, and I agree about the folds.  I'm still learning when it comes to faces so any advice is much appreciated.

SgtPerry - Doh! I should have known about the wood on the garand, seeing as my brother owns one...  Thanks for the catch though, I'll get it fixed before varnishing.  On a side note I really appreciate your step by step painting tutorial you did on your site, it was a great help when I did mine.  I had to use all GW paints since that's what I have and it was nice to see a guide with those colors mentioned.

Advice? Should you get any, let me know.  I've been feeling extremely uncertain lately when painting faces, so I'd be in no position to give advice.

My only complaint about Artizan US is there are too many chinstraps!  It seems that every figure has two!

A WWII US helmet does have two chinstraps, mate. Here's me modelling mine...

(See I have one dangling down unfastened, and one wrapped over the front of the helmet)

One is for the removable inner, the other for the helmet proper. See also that one is brown leather and the other is greenish-khaki webbing, if you want to paint yours ultra-correct.

Good looking mini's man.  Now you just need to work on some casualty markers and surrender flags for when we play. 


@Plynkes - you need some stripes on your shirt Plynkes.  That stare and scruff on your chin at least entitles you to being a buck sergeant.

Dflynsqrl - I thought about picking up some markers, but they only seem to offer german casualties...go figure....

BAM has some helmets hanging from rifles. These would also be great as a marker!
