What do you watch for flouncy shirts inspiration?
« on: June 03, 2016, 08:00:17 AM »
I've lately been going through the following shows for 18th (and late 17th) century inspiration:

Black Sails
Turn: Washington's Spies
Musketeers (the BBC one)
City of Vice
Outlander

Any other recommendations series-wise?

Not a recommendation...because I haven't seen it but there's Crossbones http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2400631/?ref_=nv_sr_1
Gods, monsters and men,
Will die together in the end.

There is a new series that started this week on BBC Verseilles , lots of nookey and violence, but should be rather good

All of the above, plus:
Muppet Treasure Island
Last of the Mohicans (the Daniel Day Lewis version)
Errol Flynn - Captain Blood! ;)
Rob Roy (Liam Neeson version)
Kidnapped (the classic 1971 adaptation, Michael Caine, Trevor Howard, Donald Plesance, et al)
Moonfleet (The Stewart Granger version)

On TV - Poldark, obvs (I prefer the old version to the new, but they're both great to watch), the Beeb's recent 'Jamaica Inn'.

And a couple of old TV favourites...
'The Flashing Blade' and 'By The Sword Divided' (the latter definitely on DVD)

Ah - Moonfleet. Personal favourite (and at least partly set where I grew up).

I was kidding  ;)

None of the actual Treasure Island movies really grab me - no, not even the Robert Newton version.
I have high hopes they will one day take Black Sails all the way through to Treasure Island...

'Swashbuckler' (' The Scarlet Buccaneer') with Robert Shaw. It's very flouncy!
