Getting back into figure gaming
« on: June 05, 2016, 10:15:20 PM »
Hi
I started playing D+D in the late 70's and 80's and then moved on to other things, A few month ago a good friend said had i heard of a game called Frost grave?, No, so had a look at the reviews about the game and liked what i saw, Old school D+D battles.

So i got myself a copy and dug out some of my old figures to see how the game worked out, after a few games and coming on here to ask a few question about the rules i was hooked.

I have now got back into figure painting once again and have brought a few new minis to make my warband up, here are a few photo's of what i have done, hope you like them.

You took a decades long break and that's how good your painting looks?  :o :D Well done, and welcome back to miniatures gaming!

Welcome back!

Frostgrave is a great place to start in my opinion. You can even make two warbands to lure in potential vict... opponents, yeah, that's what I meant. With six to ten models per warband, you can be ready in under a week.

Having densely packed, snowy scenery is another matter all together...

Yep, great start to hobby again! The warband looks fantastic! I myself had a decades long break too and suddenly realised I could paint better because:

a) I actually read how-to articles and am now bothered enough to apply what I've learned
b) a thing called YouTube appeared to give me even more advice (sometimes too much)
c) I can afford decent brushes and paints
d) miniatures have come a long way in quality
e) I now no longer have the need to spend my life drunk
