Spanish Reina Dragoons - 28mm Elite Minis
« on: 08 June 2016, 02:52:51 AM »
Hi chaps.

One Spanish Dragoon regiment completed. I should have been doing stuff around the farm but hey, it is not every day you are painting Spanish Dragoons and fixing fences and cutting up firewood can be done any time - I am not sure SWMBO agrees with that.

I was a little leery about the yellow but in the end I like it well enough. Over the last month or so I have managed to finish three Spanish cavalry regiments so on that score I am pretty happy with how my Spanish army is starting to take shape.  Enough of cavalry for the moment - back to painting Spanish infantry. I really need another two brigades - but with other spending priorities it may be a while before they are fielded.

Cheers

Bonjour Brian,

These are really nicely painted.

I rather like the yellow and have just had painted for me 24 of the Front Rank ones which I'm keen to collect from England in a few days time.

Will see if I can do some pictures too.

Cheers,

Paul

Very nice indeed as always, now to pick your brains😃 I am doing a spanish force for sharp practice and woondered what you thought of accuracy on using boot hill miniatures infantry and their regular cavalry for spanish, I think the infantry as militia in french style uniform should be close but wasnt sure on the helmet lancers, I know La Mancha fought for Joseph but did think they may also make for a nice militia unit

I think there is some disagreement as to whether the La Mancha Lancers fought for Joseph or for the Junta. Neat uniform so get them and use them as La Mancha or some militia Lancer unit. I think the Boot Hill Mexican Lancers could pull double duty. Not sure about the rest of the Mexican infantry though - probably a bit too Frenchified.

Steve's Balagan site is a great resource. He is my old next door neighbour when we were all students living in crappy old flats back in Palmerston North, NZ, in the 80s. A really nice bloke.

Bonjour Brian,

Wow the information that Lowtardog has put together is really great!

Must have the odd Peninsular game this year.

Cheers,

Paul
