As an American, how will this impact buying and shipping from UK retailers or UK manufacturers?  The pound losing value will help, but will retailers raise their prices accordingly?

I'm not seeing a difference.
The Aussie dollar usually seems to be worth about 50p, give or take a little. I normally just double the UK price on a mini to get an idea of what it'll cost me. To buy something worth GBP10 still costs me close to AU$20.
I was expecting a huge difference when I heard the news but it seems to be business as usual, unless I'm missing something?

My fear is that this potentially is the death knell for many small, independent traders and/or producers, as their products will become too expensive for their EU buyers.

This is a thing I am worrying about a lot as well. (Apart from all the other worrysome stuff to worry about)

Whatever deal Britain gets, it will almost certainly not be in the EU customs union, as that mean letting the EU make trade deals, and one of the arguments for leave was that the UK would be able to make its own trade deals around the world.

As such, orders from the uk to the EU will be subject to VAT if valued over a countries threshold (20ish euro?) and duty over a higher limit, plus handling fee. Most small uk businesses are not VAT registered. That will be an option so VAT would then not be (sort of) charged twice, but I'd imagine it will still be off putting to EU customers used to no additional charges.

It's going to be hard for us wee mini companies. But we're not there yet so keep on buying!

LAFUK

 lol

This thread gave me a well-needed giggle.

Still, with practically all my miniature purchases being from the UK, I am somewhat worried what will come out of this...

I really have no idea what I'm doing.

With over 1.5 million people signing a petition for another referendum which now has to be debated in parliament
it's not over yet .
or is it?

Whatever happens : "The Games A Foot".

If the original decision is upheld the sheer amount of work unpicking over 40 years of membership is a scary task.

So Boris and Nigel shut up with the knee jerk reactions!!!! >:(

Its unknown territory and how much are we not going to be allowed to do this in our timescale and advantage.

The really sad thing is that wargamers already notice what will happen now....
My wife works at bmw and they already discuss stopping investments in the uk...
Also dont like the eu but paying custom for minis from the uk is feeling like ancient times...
Im also sure theres no eu light for uk.
German news is full with statments that it has to happen now.
Personally i think its really sad...time will tell...
Its a democratic decision...

Well I've just placed a couple of UK orders. Ral Partha and Black Tree. A nice bunch of miniatures for various Fantasy things. Cheap enough already now even cheaper (both also were on Sales of 20% and 40% respectively and Ral Partha usually refunds the VAT)

We have all the time we want because unless we trigger Article 50, nothing happens.

the greater the length of uncertainty the more the GBP (and euro) will fall = cheaper minis for all and a good possibility of some nice going out of business sales too.

Incredibly mercenary and non empathetic way of looking at it but it is also wonderfully apolitical. What can I say, LAF the place where it is more acceptable to have all the compassion of a grumpy Dalek than it is to have a public opinion on the news of the day.

It is quite simple. Your first sentence is, although wildly speculative, relevant to this forum. There are *plenty* of other channels for your second.
