Byzantine-Bulgarian Wars with To the Strongest
« on: June 28, 2016, 05:57:35 AM »
We've started a To the Strongest! campaign at club, recreating the conflict between the Byzantine Empire and the Bulgarians that took place in 1002-1018 BC.

In the first installment the two armies clash right at the border between their respective nations.

An intense and unpredictable game. Full AAR plus many pictures can be found at Hook Island.

Nice set up and AAR.

I'm mildly amused though that someone would name a set of ancients rules after a Bolivian football team. I suppose it is kind of apposite in an odd sort of way. Their social media presence must have a few people in La Paz flummoxed. :)

Google must know I live in a country where football isn't even the most popular sport by that name as they didn't show up when I searched it.  :D

There's a famous team in La Paz called  'The Strongest'.  You probably need to follow the Copa Libertadores to be aware of them.

The US of A is a desert of real sports.

As someone who is decidedly apathetic on all sports but basketball I must respectfully disagree.  ;)

Basketball isn't a sport. It's merely a potentially lucrative pastime for people whose freakish height would otherwise only fit them only for stacking the uppermost shelves of supermarkets.

As I said, the US of A is a sporting desert.  :)

By the same token, couldn't you say that soccer is a potentially lucrative pastime for people who can't decide whether they want to go for a jog, play kickball, or take an acting class?  :D

No, because I can appreciate the sheer beauty of the game and indulge my passion by watching teams that are actually worth watching. I understand that's not the case in the old Estados Unidos.  :)
