Statuesque Mini Professor Poppington
« on: 28 June 2016, 08:55:16 PM »
I'm not having much luck just now. My wife and myself are trying to sell up and move house and all of my 'toys' (that's what she calls them! >:() have been packed away. I've left myself out a small painting kit and a couple of minis. The problem is, it's at times like this you realise you pack away ALL the things you need. So I apologise in advance, I can't find my Matt varnish OR my tripod.....amongst other things!! :'(

Anyway here's  a figure I'm planning on using with my 7TV casts..

I tried a new trick for me. The Missus showed my some pictures of something called 'contour make-up'. If you do a Google search for this and look at the images it shows where to apply highlights to faces. It's actually REALLY helpful! You might be surprised where female face highlights are supposed to go! When it comes to painting the make-up, I've added red (for example for the lips) to the skin base colour. It seems to make it not quite soo garish! The same goes for eyeshadow and eyebrows. Just add blue or black to the base skin tone. This is the first time I've actually done eyebrows on a model! :o

Edit:I REALLY need my matt varnish! :'(

Lovely! :D :D

I have never thought about adding a red to flesh for lips! The effect is very subtle but brilliant! :-*

Don't think I can manage the eyebrows though! Even with the biggest goggles on I can't see that well.

Love the coat.

Very nice, I love the colors, and atmosphere in the photos. The Statuesque figures are so fun to paint.

I've done the 'red +flesh' for natural lips for quite a while- definitely better than accidentally turning a nice lass into a woman of ill repute.

It also works for nipples when you're trying to capture that ill repute look, by the way. At least that's what a friend told me.

Excellent paint on a very nice mini! I don't know why but I particularly like how the flashlight turned out.

Lovely painting. The red coat is excellent and I love how the cap and eyes tie in together. And those boots look *really* realistic. How did you do these exactly :)

Usually what I do for lips is I use thin ink washes. Similar idea, since the skin tone shines through.

Great Job Andy, neat take on her colour scheme!
