Nice.
Classic Not-Imperial Guard with a slight "Aliens" vibe.

old shockforce figs

Or, in some cases, possibly very old Grenadier figs.

learn something new every day. I have a platoon of these guys and I must say I enjoy them.

They are pretty cool figs. I had a platoon or so worth, but I ended up selling them off when I realized I was never going to paint ANOTHER IG army.  I've still got Captain Jack and some of the other various shockforce figs.

Some of the troopers were originally Grenadier "K-Force" (the ones that are a bit chunkier) and you can find pics the original line here:
http://www.miniatures-workshop.com/lostminiswiki/index.php?title=Future_Warriors_-_K-Force
For the Shockforce game, Demonblade had Bobby Jackson sculpt some new ones to add variety to the range.  The range is pretty consistent, but the newer ones are a bit slimmer and crisper and have separate backpacks.

It's a shame that the line is no longer available.  Maybe like some of the other Shockforce figs they'll make a comeback in a Johnyborg kickstarter?

Another update with more Night Lords!

A big part of the reason why I started this little Warhammer 40,000 project was because, well, sometimes you just want to paint some miniatures that looked like they stepped right off the cover of a heavy metal album. As I make more progress on my Night Lords warband (the Reavers of Deculon Prime) I’m discovering some of the insane new Chaos Space Marine miniatures that have come along in recent years.

Here are a few:

Well, it only took me the whole damn summer, but I finally finished three Chaos Terminators for my Night Lords warband. As always these are the old-school metal models. Way back when I was just a kid, those hulking Terminator models fired my imagination like nothing else. And they presented a particular challenge for me as a burgeoning painter. I could *not* rationalize spending $12 per figure (back in those days) and not be able to do a good job painting it up. So it was a long time before I was confident enough to try out some Chaos Terminators. I've long since sold off those old models, but these guys really helped me recapture that initial excitement (lightning in a bottle, some might say) 2nd edition WH40K held for me.

Excellent work.  I've always like some of the old terminator bits --- never was too keen on the trophy racks though!  Damn that reaper autocannon - it has slain half my army!

Here's another update ... this time with more Helbrute!

This walking sarcophagus is Drypsalion, the Font of Vengeance, a Helbrute in service to the Reavers of Deculon Prime (my Night Lords warband). Inside this accursed flesh-and-steel tomb lies an ancient warrior forever trapped at the very brink of death. Over the years, his proud dreadnought armor has been twisted and corrupted by the forces of Chaos, so that now he is a soulless melding of man and machine.

This model was fantastic and I fear I really haven’t done it justice. It was a lot of fun painting so much twisted flesh alongside more traditional Night Lords armor plates.

Really cool project;  I love the Night Lords.  Your vignettes remind me of the first City Fight (NL vs. the Cadian 122nd) and the classic Index Astartes fluff that fueled ADB's Nightlord's trilogy.  I prefer them as hardbitten vets to lightning magic warriors.

That modern hellbrute fits in nicely but I still have a soft spot for that classic metal chaos dread with the wonky over-long flail arm thingy!

I like the old version too! I had two in my old Iron Warriors army back the mid-90s. Luckily it seems like you can pick up an old vintage dread model for cheap on eBay. Time to go shopping...

More updates! I did quite a bit in the last few months of 2016, including this gnarly demon prince! Earlier this year I received this model, incomplete, missing an arm and (I later learned) an armored loincloth. Worse, since I hadn’t played 40k in many years, I couldn’t immediately identify the figure. Thankfully the Internet (actually the Warhammer 40,000 Facebook discussion group) helped immensely, identifying the figure as one Be’lakor, Daemon Prince of Chaos. One generous player in the UK actually volunteered to send me the missing arm!

So here's what I did with it.

More info on this fun project is located over at my blog: https://comradewargames.wordpress.com/2016/12/20/resurrecting-belakor-most-of-him-anyway/

That's a very cool mini. One of the few GW ones I still want to get. I'm jealous. Lovely paint job on it. I hope you can find that armoured loincloth one day as well... for Be"lakor.
